Speed bow shooters, question about pins?

On my new bow, my 20 yd and 30 yd pins are almost the same, so close in fact that I can not see between them at full draw.

My question is, should I make my top pin a 0-30 yd pin and try to remember to aim just a hair lower when the moment of truth comes at 15 yds?

With my old bow, there was enough distance between the two to not confuse the issue, plus I rarely shot at a deer over 25 yds and if I did take a 25 yd shot I held my 20 pin high.

Could yall remember details such as that at the moment of truth? I really don't think it will matter that much. If I use my 30 yd pin at 10 yds I am still inside the circle at the top.

Am I making this too complicated by being too precise?

Set your first pin at 25-27(this should carry 30 as well).Don't wory about remembering to aim low.You will hit slightly higher at 15-20 and on the closer shots from a stand, you want to be slightly higher, so just hold for the middle and forget about it.;)

OR,if possible, extend the sight out further. That will open your pin gap up.

EDITED,I typed like Germ there for a moment:eek:[8D]

Not a big fan of sight extensions, but I've never used one.

I am thinking of just making my top pin 0-30 but I want to hear everyone's pros and cons on this.

I shoot a switchback and and with my setup i use a single pin 0-30 yards it shoots about 2 inches high at 15 and dead on at thirty and about 4 inches low at 35 i feel with the speed of todays bows when i shoot at 10 yards even from a stand the arrow has no time to move like i said you don't notice arrow movement until bout 25 yards just my .02

You had a sight extension Jeff. The closer the sight is to the riser the tighter the pins get. The further out/gapping the more accurate you can be.

cons: you won't be as accurate. You'll still be holding your pin high or low depending. Ask huntingson, he only had a 30 on his bow at the HNI Northeast shoot out, it wasn't working out that well for him. ;) ;)

Try this tomorrow, Rob.

Slide your bar all the way out.....and shoot 3 arrows.

Slide it all the way in and shoot 3 arrows.

(same pin)

I'm interested to see the results.

I'm not sure what your interested in there. ?

Are you interested in pin gap or to see where the arrow hits in relativity between the out vs in?

Yes.

To make it better.....shoot 3 ea from the out position at 20 and 30 yds.

Shoot 3 ea from the in position at 20 and 30 yds.

Just interested. use your 82nd.
