Dead Down Wind
Does this stuff work good? I was watching HB the episode when they were elk hunting and that guy Jeff got busted every time, like eighty yards away.

RE: Dead Down Wind
Awesome input people. I want to hear more, so please don't stop.

RE: Dead Down Wind
I have used it, and it seems to work pretty well. As a test I poured some gas on one hand, and rubbed some bacon on the other. Sprayed my hands down, and I could not smell either scent.

RE: Dead Down Wind
Sucks--smells worse than diesel fuel.
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
hmmm. I don't think it smells at all.. I have used it for a while now and it seems to work fine.. I also use the Primos scent products.. Currently anyway, I've used a lot of them..

RE: Dead Down Wind
It has nanozymes in it.
Which are apparently little pac-man like creatures who eat scent. Good enough for me. Can I buy 20!:D |
RE: Dead Down Wind
Works Ok.What works better to me was Silver XP. Did somewhat of a test last year. I use those neoprene type boots (muck boots) hunting in south Alabama swamps stalk hunting hogs. We average around 9 miles a day walking the swamps in up to 85 degree weather looking for hogs. Needless to say my feet sweat pretty good in neoprene boots. Bought a brand new pair last year and new sock liners. First day I rubbed silver XP body foam all over my feet. No smell at end of day. Next day, new socks and I used Dead Down Wind body foam. Could hardly smell anything at the end of that day. Third daynew socks but didn't use any scent control. Smell about knocked me down that night.

you Stink no matter what you use! Stinky

RE: Dead Down Wind
I used it last year and didn't notice any big difference over any of the other scent killers. My favorite is VERY hard to find. Its OdorNix.
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
I bought the little "package" they offered last year....that included a large bottle of e3.....laundry detergent....and breath spray.
I've been using the e3 for 2+ seasons, now.....and I'm pleased. It doesn't leave the residue that white lighning does (hated that) and I suppose it works as well as any other scent elim. spray. The mouth spray is small enough to stick in a pocket....and convenient to use while on stand. |
RE: Dead Down Wind
DDW does work. But...(and there is always a "but" isn't there?), how good it works is only as good as your weakest link. In other words, if your breath is bad, which to a deer it always is, that is your weakest link. DDW is not a cover up, but a true odor eliminator that utilizes enzemes that "eat" the odor causing molecules.
In the case of HB getting busted...there are a whole lot of obstacles in that scenario to overcome. Multiple people (cameraman or more), lots of hiking (I assume) and activity that probably would require several follow ups with the spray thru the day, etc. Not trying to speak for HB, but those are pretty good assumptions I think. IMO, DDW is worth using because I believe in the science behind it, and anything you can do to reduce your odor presence in the woods has to be a help. |
RE: Dead Down Wind
I started using DDW last year, and this was the first year that I didnt have a deer even close enought for a shot.[:@] Dont really know if I was getting winded, or the deer were just staying away from me.
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
I am a fan of DDW. I have used it for a few seasons and seemed to work well
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
It actually does work. No matter what you use, when its 90+ degrees you sweat......a lot. That was the case in New Mexico. The wind was REALLY swirling out there, I think I used 2 bottles of wind checker that trip. That's just the way it goes elk hunting. Those bulls were all inside 45 yards, the last one caught movement from the camera guy.....had nothing to do with scent.
I religiously spray down before every hunt, and during the hunt to stay as scent free as I can. Thanks guys! - Jeff |
RE: Dead Down Wind
I like the DDW body foam. It's the only thing I've tried so far. As my other scent stuff runs out, I will probably re-stock with DDW stuff. That foam really helps out the "sweaty" areas not to get smelly.
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
That stuff stinks like chemicals IMO so I don't use it
|
RE: Dead Down Wind
I've been using it for 2 seasons and so far I prefer it over the others that I have used.

The primos Silver XP works on the same basis. These products are designed to last longer because a simple"cover-up" will wear out, DDW and Primos not onlyhelp control but also help prevent the reemrgance of odor causing bacteria. |

The sooner people realize you can't fool a whitetails nose, the less money you will spend on "pixy dust" that doesn't do A THING compared to what a whitetails nose if capable of detecting.....

RE: Dead Down Wind
I used it last year and was not very happy in the early season. I noticed a fair amount more bugs bites than my counter part while I was using DDW and Hunters Specialties as apposed to Scent Killer. Later in the season I had no issues but for some reason its seemed to be bug attractant in the early season.

I will tell you why, because you do not want to stink to high heavens, that's why. When will some people ever understand that if a little cleanness will help, a lot of cleanness will help more. LT Disclaimer: I am a rookie and don't know jack ****! I do agree, you will never totally beat their nose, but if I can beat half of it,...well. |
