P & Y scoring question....

When figuring up deductions, are they figured side to side or point to point?

On my buck, if I go by total inches of the right side vs. the left, he has 1 7/8......If I compare point to point, he's got a little over 5....

I believe its side to side Don. That way main beam length is figured in. Killer buck bro! ;)

Point to point mobow. Eample would be- (G1 to G1 and so on) (MB to MB) H1 to H1 and so on)

That's what I thought. Bummer. I just don't think he's gonna make it then, but I'll score him anyway. He's kind of strange....His left side G1 is longer, his right side G2 is longer, his left side G3 is longer, and his right side MB is longer.....Mass is damn near the same....

Side to side I came up w/ 1 7/8, but point to point I came up with 4 1/8...Kinda strange, huh?

Not strange at all. 4 1/8 deductions is pretty good and symmetrical. Well below the average.

Ha ha, after reading it, mine could be taken as wrong also!
You actually have 4 columns that get added and subtracted.
1. Is spread credit or inside spread.
2. Is right side, length of main beam, then G, then H
3. Is left side, same as above
4. Is differences
when your all done scoring, you add column 1,2 and 3then subtract the differences.

Well if you get back up in mid to late Sept to do any scouting on the buck of the shed you found, we will take a ride upby Black River and I will call a few Bulls in with a turkey call and golf bag club tube for you to get a close look at.
Looks like were going to be in Maryland working/hunting the whole month of Oct, then on to KY for the first 10 days of Nov, then Kansas till next spring.

Sorry Mo, Back on topic. 4 1/8 is great for deductions, Killed a big 10 in MI back in the 80's that had over 140" of bone on its head, had about a 2" differnce in beam length and just about a 2" differnce on every tine on its head, jumping from one side to the other, lostaround 20'' on him, still a great buck , just didn't score for crap.
