Theres been many a time I have walked up to someone gutting a deer and they leave these behind, they do not go to waist though, I carry extra plastic bags with me at all times while deer hunting.
Man I love that stuff!! I don't keep the liver hardly anymore but the heart is another story. I've always got a zip lock bag with me as well being most of the people I go on blood trails with won't eat the heart.

I keep the liver, but only from a young deer. Love it!The liver from a big/old deer has alwaysbeen tough eating.[:'(]

Keep mine for an old German man that loves kidneys, liver, and the heart.
I have tried the heart and was not to thrilled but I definitely hate to waste anything I no someone will appreciate .

If you leave em behind, there are many critters that will readily clean up after you!

Same here. Only time I ever thought they were good was when he made his liver and onions. I miss hunting with him.

I grew up eating deer and cattle liver. I like it a lot.

However, as my career began to take roots in my early 20's in the commercial cattle feeding industry and after "posting" (autopsy) many dead feedlot cattle and observing their livers..........eat whatever you want, but I think I'll hold out for some backstrap or a ribeye.
