I pretty much agree that if a deer is close and looking up at you it is usually game over.
Yep. Same here. There at DEFCON 5 from that moment on.

Damn, I bet I've shot a dozen deer at least that I've had a stare down with. I wouldn't be so quick to declare "Game Over". And some of those staredowns have been quite lenghty.

I'm thinking it's those nerves of steel davidmil :D! When I'm standing, no matter how still I try to remian, they seem to pick up movement, and bolt. They'll stop 10, 20, or 30 yards away, but they sure keep an eye on my tree from that point. I swear one saw me blink my eyes once from directly under my tree.
