Question for ND hunters
I will be heading out to the Minot (about 20 miles south) area for the ND bow opener (Aug 29).
The farm that I will be hunting has Sunflowers. Will whitetails be hitting sunflowers fields at the end of Aug or not until later in the Fall? Thanks |
RE: Question for ND hunters
They use sunflower fields for bedding areasor getting away from pressure from waterfoul hunters here more then anything. Look for drainage ditches and sloughs along the edge or leading into the middle of the sunflower fields. Great way to catch a deer leaving or going in/out a sunflower field. If trees border the sunflowers... check that out as well. Same applies for corn fields.
Does he have barley or soybeans??The barley will be harvested by bow opener but should be greened up as no combine is100%.Great feeding areas unless he works them up right before bow season. Soybeansare late in many areas with the cool temps this spring and early summer. If they are still green and not dyingby bow opener... the deer will be feeding in them. Tim |
RE: Question for ND hunters
Thanks for the tips.
I'm not sure what other crops he has? It is a friend of minewho knows the farmer and we will both be heading out there for the opener. We will also be going there in two weeks for some scouting so hopefully that will help us put a game plan together. |
