I forgot the brand I bought---two thumbs up....they are cheap but they save your life when the rain comes pouring down in buckets...get one! They also keep the sun out of your face if you choose to use one on a sunny day.

Great product. Make sure you set it up high enough that you can draw your bow while standing underneath it.

My only concern with them is, don't they make noise when it rains??

GMMAT 08-02-2008 08:28 PM

RE: tree umbrella

They don't make any more noise than the rain does hitting on the other limbs, trees, etc.... . I have no idea which brand mine is....but if I didn't have it....I wouldn't have hunted a few times, last year.

I didn't shoot anything while I was using it.....but I know I dropped it out of my stand (prior to setting it up) the morning I shot my 8-pointer, last year. Thank God it didn't rain.:D

Rob/PA picked mine up for me. If he sees this....he can tell you which one it is.....but it's got a big coverage area.....and it's easy to set up.

I used a Buckwing Porta Roof this past turkey season. Sat through 4 hours of pouring rain on the last day of the season. Rain stopped and I killed a gobbler 30 minutes later.Being under that umbrella wasa beautiful thing. :)

I bought a cheapy at wal-mart for like $20.00 and it's well worth it. Especially for those cold November rains.

I seen 1 at wal-mart today and just about bought it. Do they secure to the tree good or do you have to worry about them whipping in the wind?

One of the best bang for the buck products out there. I dont remember the name, but I have 3 of them. They work fantastic and Jeff is right, they dont make that much noise and they work really well.

I've been using one for decades. When it's threatening to rain the extra few ounces to carry it in is nothing. My only problem is they probably stick out a little and make a bit of a blob in the tree. Who knows. I've used them in heavy snow too. Beats getting covered with snow and having your bow covered.

I keep mine up for the whole season. I put it up when I put my safety strap up, just before the season starts and remove it at the end of the year. They also help reduce shadows on a sunny day.

They come with a holder that screws into the tree i put the holder inwhen i put my stand up then leave the umbrella in my truck if it looks like rain i bring it to my stand with me. They work real good

Well I thought it was right up there with the "Deer View Mirror" until the forecast for opening day of last years PArifle season was hard rain most of the day. I threw it in my pack, (porta roof or something similiar) It saved the day. While others scurried back to camp to dry off I was able to stay on stand all day, mostly dry. Some wetness wicked in from leaning my back against the tree but nothing unbearable.

All day I was saying that beer commercial..Here's to you Mr. Tree Umbrella inventor!

I love and have relied on my tree umbrella many times.

One of the best things on the market. I've used mine (not sure of the brand) many times. I bought a second one to have as a back up in case anything were to happen to my original. I won't go to the woods without it. I stayed nice and dry while my buddy got soaked to the bone in a steady rain, he immediately bought himself one.

RE: tree umbrella

and now some negatives. if your in a ladder stand the end cuts off where your knees are so you get wet. the mount screws into the tree so if your on public game lands you can get a ticket just like using screw in tree steps. it doesnt exactly set up quick but its better than nothing. i use the bigger hub style rain shelters buit it takes a while to set up. the easiest rain cover was the one that tree lounge use to sell.
