Why the dislike for low post number

I am sure that I am going to start a riot with this. That is not my reasoning behind this post but I have seen a bunch of threads where those of us get bashed for lack of a better term for not having hundreds of threads would someone please explain why this is.:)

You may be refering to the General thread. It's not that we are bashing people for being new.... Not at all. We were all new here at one timebut this is the internet. ;)

After you have been around a while, and if you have been around a while on other boards, you will see that many many times there are "trolls" that just like to come on boards for no other reason than starting trouble so peole that have been members for years tend to be a little suspicous about new people that start out with their first post or three with a topic that may be started for no other reason than getting people all worked up.

Well because your not part of their clique.
And this is a perfect example of a smartbutt comment to a perfectly legitimate question that tends to keep us "lifers" from feeling all warm and fuzzy toward certain newbes.

Well, there was that one time I said I don't like the idea of hunting Elephants, that didn't go over so well. Oh, and that other time I posted a buck on a swing. Some people are up tight and they have boring lives so you can't please them all.

You need to BREAK IN NFH. Its taken me yrs....... keep on keeping on. Do what you want and HNI will accept you with open arms. That doesn't mean everyone will accept every thought you have. Sometimes its like a group of guys that hunt the land next to yours. We all have differing opinions.

What do you mean by "God like"??? I am God and you best not tick me off Grasshopper or I'll squash you. LOL

I have seen nothing but kindness twords me and my postings, there has NEVER been any bashing my way.

That's because you can't fix stupid so we let you go.[8D][8D][8D][8D]

And NYbowhunter... sure we love you. We didn't even know you were gone for two weeks or we would have mentioned it, and talked about you while you were out. Hmmm... maybe we do dislike you.

AND... there are NO cliques in the "Off Season" forum. That's over in the Bowhunting Forum and no one from the Off Season Forum is invited to play in it. We don't call it a clique.... we call them the Groupies.[8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D]

RE: Why the dislike for low post number

What difference does it make if a person has 1 post or a million? Everybody should be accepted the same.

And the comment about cliques...you can't say that there aren't cliques on here. Here's a great example: there are those that frequent the "other" archery forum and like it just fine - then there's the group that do nothing but badmouth the other one.

Sad.

Post count shouldn't merit respect or the lack thereof. It's the person behind the post that should get it.

WHAT? LMAO Dave, the Offseason is the biggest clique on HNI hands down. ;) That's been proven time and time again.

David and I aren't exactly "chums".....but someone posting here OBVIOUSLY doesn't know him.

He deserves a little more respect than he's getting (UNDERSTATEMENT).A high post count (I NEVER look at them) doesn't mean someone should be berated, either.

Freakin PETTY doesn't even begin to describe this.;)

When you stop acting like you're in HS....the atmosphere will change.;)

The only thing you struck a nerve on....is when you make personal references/statements about people you know nothing about. It's out of bounds. It's disrespectful.

That's all.

The problem with a low post count is.....it usually means you haven't been around very long. That becomes important......when the people who HAVE been around a while KNOW David was kidding with his "God" reference (well....kinda:D).

Maybe its because your from New York that you think your GOD. Any ways it sounds like with 17299 posts that your single and don't have a life so I pitty you for that.
This guy you're talking about (and NOT kidding)......served in Vietnam. Served for MANY, many years.....and lost the love of his life a couple years ago.

Yeah....I'd say he deserves better than that.[:@]

Just stick a sock in it, Stab. You're the ONLY one looking like an ass.

There are some people on the forums who have been members for quite a while, yet have a low post/thread count. There are also those who have been members for a short period of time, yet have huge post/thread counts. And lastly, there are the folks who just became members and have very few posts/threads.
Ibelieve some people think since you just started on the forums (low post/thread count) your knowledge/experience might be limited. The problem is, this often is not the case. Post/thread count is NOT RELITIVE to one's knowledge. So a person really needs to be open minded and listen/read more than post/talk when starting out.;):D JMHO

Also keep in mind that there is a "feeling out" stage of new members. Remember that we have never met you before and this is even less personal since we can't see you or shake your hand.

Just like when you actually meet someone in person there is a feeling out stage. It just takes less time in person than it does typing on the internet.

I would have to disagree. When I made my first post after lurking for awhile as a guest I was welcomed without hesitation. It might be the contents rather then the post count that a member supplies that may cause a stir. Either way good luck.

Bottom line .... most new guys are ignored, unless they hit someones sacred cow ..... dislike has NOTHING to do with it ...it's a trust thing IMO

Stabnslab Wi,
I've been here since the beginning, member #76 I beleive and havenever been know to bash ,incite, push buttons etc. Just ask Rob or the guy your arguing with, GMMAT:D.

I've also said post count ought to be done away with. Serves no purpose IMO.
