Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I wanted somenewbroadheads to play around with - and was hoping to come across some kind of a good deal.
Well, at lunchtime, I wandered down to the hunting store down the street, and they had these Eastman TI-2 Titanium 125's on sale for $6-a-pack (3 headsper pack). So, I picked up 3 packs. Good deal or total ripoff? What say you? ![]() |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Good deal! Would be great to use on varmints and other critters. I am sure they would kill deer but I would use other BH's for that.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I wouldn't shoot a deer with one. I've seen 2 first hand that went through a deer and were totally demolished. We found one of the deer, and the other we couldn't after 2 days. Blood trails were poor.
For the record though, I have no idea where the deer we didn't find was hit. All I have is what my buddy told me. The other one was a good shot. |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
6 bucks a three pack, not to shabby. I don't like spending my money unless I have to but I probably would have gotten them as well. Give em a try, worst case senario..............you don't like them and give them to me;)
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
At that price you can shoot them into a wall and their worth the money. I say good deal. Stick one on your quiver for yotes or follow up shots.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I bought some of those for my son to tear up on his Browning Micro Midas. They are soft, and I mean really soft. I had heck trying to get any of them to spin true, and in desperation finally chucked a few up in the lathe to try and true them up. Cut through the nickle on the outside and you will see they are brass/bronze underneath. Lathe grabbed one of them and bent it like a noodle.
Now I am as big a tightwad as any, but for me those turned out to be a one-shot, close-range throwaway. BTW, I got mine closeout at Wal-Mart for $3 for 3, got you beat there. |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Took that same lunchbreak tour the other day at D*cks and almost bought them. I'm glad I didn't - they were $12 there! At $6, I probably would still buy them to shoot at other critters.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Better deal than mine;)

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
The wal-MArt by me carries a lot of different models by Eastman, with the most expensive being around $12. My dad buys all his bh's there and has been shooting the Game Tracker Silver Tip 100 mechanicals(I think that's the name)for a long time. He loves them and they have performed well. I always pick up a pack or two of the Eastmans just to have, they fly good and I've killed 1 deer with one similair to the one pictured(mine wasn't a chisel point). After pass thru the head wasn't reusable but the damage to the deer was good.
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I've used several different one's from eastman's or what ever there name is.....they sell the same style broadheads under several different names depending on what store you are at....Never liked any of them, always seem to break apart easy...
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Hmmmm, may have to partially retract my statement, the ones I got weren't chisel point either, it was a simple cone point. Other than that they looked exactly the same.
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
For $6 a pack, I'd probably give'em a try also.
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I'll never understand why guys will spend hundreds of dollars on a good setup and even remotely consider using nickle broadheads.
Eastman Broadheads have been very poor quality for years, hopefully they've improved. Dan |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
i wouldnt use them on deer at all... My buddy tried some and the blades were breaking off in the foam target.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I killed my first two deer with those exact broadheads.
They got the job done. The broadhead stayed intact and I got two passthroughs, and the both deer died. So I guess they did their job. They always flew pretty good for me, too. I think you got a good deal on them. By the way, some of the other Eastman broadheads are actually pretty nice too, especially the firstcut mechanical and the one that looks like a Silver Flame. I've also had good luck with the 125 grain Sabre Titaniums. People assume their junk because they're sold at Walmart, but I think they are actually decent broadheads for the money. Just spin check them first. |

If you want good clean oats you will pay a fair price, if on the other hand you are content with oats after they have been through the Horse there are some Bargains!;) Dan |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I bought a pack at walmart years ago and they were the most ptitful cheap piece of crap.... sorry excuse for a broadhead I have ever seen. They were not sharp..... I could pull it across my arm and not hardly leave a mark.... they flew terrible, and they were very weak..... breaking easily ..... I hope you have better luck, but I wouldn't hold my breath about them...

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I've killed 2 deer and a coyote with Eastmans. Reused the heads, too. Somebody call Ripleys.
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I think you got a good deal. I think guys get a skewed view point when they only use one brand of broadhead. I'm willing to bet you can kill a deer with one. ;)
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
just think....for the same 18$ you could had a 3 pack of Muzzys...................i rather have 3 muzzys than 9 of them....
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Looks like a shakey deal to me. Small cutting diameter. I really wouldn't skimp on a broadhead for deer. I'd use them on other forest critter like bunnies, squirrels, groundhogs etc.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Hopefully you got a kiss with them because you sure got screwed. Your a fricken lawyer, let go of some of that cash.

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
For varmints...why not??
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Yeah I fell into that trap a time or two "to good to pass up" and too lousy to shoot at anything you care about. Sorry you wasted 18$.
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Good for 'plinking' around, but wouldn't use them on deer!
|
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
Varmits!

RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
I've shot a buck, 2 does and a coyote with them. 2 Blades broke off on the buck but he didn't go far. One bent blade on a doe and she didn't go far. No broke or bent blades on the other doe but all blades had chips out of them. She didn't go far. Couldn't find the arrow on the yote. He ran 80 yards and the farthest out of all of them.
I am looking forward to hunting with Slick Tricks this year. Don't ever plan on using the other broadheads again. While they did the job I was getting leary of them the more I used them. The pro shop owner was bragging them up and why I tried them. Weren't no $3 nor $6 nor even$12 dollars a pack either. [&:] They did fly nice though and they were sharp. I lost a bit of blood from one. [:o] :D Tim |
RE: Good deal or Huge Ripoff?
In all honesty, those are some CHEAP BH's. Now the Titanium Sabre's I have are actually pretty good. I also have some of the Tri-Loc's I picked up for $4 a 3 pack, and those sonsobitches won't tune for nothing. The Titanium Sabre's fly right next to my ST's, but those other things are as bad as the old "Allen" broadheads.
