RE: Arrows - Looky here.
Greg - the guy that I always crest with - he's like a mad scientist. Hemixes up some kind of white lacquer concoction, and we pour it in a dipping tube, then plug the ends and dip each arrow. It seriously takes forever just to get the white crestings on there. We have to hang them up, and they drip all over the place.
It's a big event. LOL The banding is actually the easier part. Don't get me wrong, our arrows always come out looking fantastic, but I've been telling him for years that I think spraypainting the white base would be much, much easier than dipping. So are you using krylon enamel or primer, or is it lacquer? Will any of the three work? Is it aerosol, or are you brushing it white or dipping them? |
RE: Arrows - Looky here.
Krylon enamel satin finish. I spray it on. I apply it sparingly and use 2 coats. each coat dries in about 15 minutes. For me getting the white on there is so much easier. I measure how much from the nock end I want to paint and then mask them with blue painters masking tape. Easy.
EDIT: Fran when you asked about masking I thought you were talking about for the bands, you know, taping bands on and then spraying and then pulling the tape off to expose a band. I guess what you were talking about is just what I do. |
