Yes PABuck, I just started doing that last year. I can't wait to compare results with this year's data. It should be interesting! Here's a typical page that I fill out for each day in the field. I got the idea from someonehere.

RE: Journal?
We have started using topo maps and plotting stands and which way the deer travel throughcertain areas. There are several of us that hunt these propeties and after a couple of years you can really find out what trails the deer love to use. Trail cams are also an important partl, alot of todays cameras stamp date, time, and moon phase on them. This is a key point in figuring out when the bucks are going to get on their feet and look for does. Halloween weekend is usually when the first signs show up here in MO.

RE: Journal?
I keep a "journal" / list of each deer killed, the focusis broadhead performance; what head, weight, cutting diameter, distance traveled, blood trail.
Dates / location don't go on "the list", that info goes on the back of a picture.

RE: Journal?
I kept a journal in the past of just hunts resulting in a kill. Last season I did all days hunting, but I did it all after the fact. This year I'll keep a little note pad with me and record even more details.
It's another great tool to have in the arsenal.

RE: Journal?
I've been doing it for7 years (all hunting and fishing) - I use MS Word with the Table of Contents feature. I also have an online blog that includes all of my journal entries at http://www.ndoutdoorsman.blogspot.com
Another thing I do for pre-season scouting is to use Google Earth to track where I've seen bucks worth pursuing at different times, which then helps me figure out a place to try to set up a stand (I do this for bowhunting, where I'm hunting private land that's open to hunting but requires permission), for my other types of hunting I don't go into this much detail (including firearms hunting where I'm doing it on our own farm).
Check out my blog for samples from my journal - I really have found the Google Earth thing to be pretty useful, and to be honest, I get a lot of enjoyment out of sitting down and reading out ofmy journalto my kids, or just reminiscing.
I also keep track of things like # of deer in range per outing, screwups per year, and for fishing - colors, jig types, bait, etc.... and yearly summaries like number of days and hours spent afield per year, average number of fish per hour of fishing, etc...
Here'sa screen shot of what I do with Google Earth (this is from 2007, I scouted a few miles from home instead of traveling to my usual hunting area, found a nice group of bachelor bucks, figure out their travel route, got permission to hunt, and harvested a P&Y on the 2nd day of the season).
