Does velvet mean anything to you?
 

I'll be hunting the early season with my longbow.....and if things pan out like they did in '07.....I "might" get a shot at a buck in velvet (I had <20yd shots at 2-3 bucks in velvet in '07).

Not sure what "I'd" do in that situation (with the longbow).....but I don't think velvet means that much, to ME.

Would it mean anything to you (would you lower your pre-determined "standards") to take a buck in velvet?

I'm still torn, I guess.

It doesn't mean much to me at all. It'd be neat, but I'd be just as fine with a hard horned buck.:D

I actually dont care for it on deer. I think polished bone looks better IMO.

I had an opportunity on opening day last year to take a 110" 8pt in full velvet, and passed... I wouldnt have, and didnt shoot him w/o the velvet later in the season..

I would never shoot a deer just to shoot one in velvet, however if a brusier gave me a shot while in velvelt I would not let it go

I would like to shoot a buck in velvet. The thing is, you can only harvest 1 buck in the state of Ohio and the chances are slim since the season starts in late September.

So my chances are pretty slim.

I would love to get a shot at one in velvet, but my standards remain the same. As I've yet to see one in velvet on stand it would be cool just to see one up close.

I guess Im one of the few that likes a velvet deer. During early bowseason I usually see several velvet bucks, and once in a while get an opportunity at one. I still keep my same standards, if not raise my standards when I see a velvet rack just because its so easy to experience ground shrinkage on one.

I agree I wouldnt shoot a smaller buck to have one in velvet. I shot one in velvet and had it mounted that way, i think it looks cool. Whatever gives you the opportunity, go for it! I like the velvet look.
