Thats a monster in my book!

Dont worry GMMAT....the bucks will come along, and you dont seem to be bothered by not having any big bucks or many bucks at all right now, you are very thankful for what you have and have gotten, thats what counts. Your not greedy.

Ok, hey you have your challenges and that's you what you like so you gotta go for it. But I guess Im much different than you. I don't have to kill a big buck every year, but I want to be around them so the opportunitycan be there for me. If it doesn't mean that much to you and you are good to go, then so be it. I don't hunt for mature bucks exclusively, I will pass on small ones and have many times, but I also hunt for property and try to get to know people so I can get on those peices that have them. In this area every county has big bucks for miles around. I live in Chesterfield county the neighboring counties: Prince George, Surry, Sussex, Dinwiddie, Amelia, Henrico, tec all have big bucks, including my own coutny among all the houses! Im lucky I guess to live where I live, but Jeff if those deer are in your county too, then why not on the land you hunt?? What makes it unappealing to them?/

You would "think" that an abundance of does would make a piece of property a "haven" for bucks.

I'm finding that this just isn't the case (behaviorally). That should answer your question.

I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of buck sightings. You took out one of the dominant bucks in the area last year. There will be someone to replace him. Who knows what that buck will be, but I'm sure the little guy you have a picture of is not him.;)

Of course he's "an" issue, gary.......but I had 46 buck sightings in '06 and 17 in '07.

I know they were hunting both years.....but can't fathom the disparity in sightings.

I just have no idea, although the ONLY thing I can control is the number of does (to an extent).....and I'm doing my part (which is ALSO a catch-22) RE: buck sightings.

It's fun. I'm having fun. I'm OK.

That's a recent pic, Matt....as he's blowing his summer coat, already.

I have several like that.....;)

Here's one from '06....on a buck I "think" got poached by.....well....you know;)
