Would you shoot this deer?
This is the first decent buck picture that we've taken since putting out the cameras (2 weeks ago). This photo was taken about 4 hours after we had placed the camera at this location.
I think he'll walk this year... I'm going to give him mid to low 120's by the time he finishes growing. ![]() |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
To me he's bigger then low to mid 120's. I'd say more like mid 130's if not 140. I'd be shooting! Whatever works for ya though. Good luck!!!

RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I would have to have a better pic to say for sure but he looks good to me.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Tough to tell & depends on what else you got. With only that pic, he'd be a game time decision.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Definitely a nice deer! Looks to almost be outside his ears. If the hunting pressure on the nearby properties isn't too bad, I may let him walk this year. But if people are hunting every acre around this spot, my considerations may change. See what else you get pictures of during the next month or two, and then decide?!? The decision has to be right for your situation.

RE: Would you shoot this deer?
i cant tell how old he is from that pic so i can say
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I personaly would take him and soley depends on how much other activity was out there, meaning if there is bigger ones then I might be more patient for a few weeks.

RE: Would you shoot this deer?
decent width good mass nice G2's. I think I'd take him but thats only cause I have alot of pressure around here. If not you could probably let him go and he might surprise ya next year.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
If I had an open broadsideto quartering away within 20 yards, I'd sure be shooting. ;)
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I agree with mohunter82. Around here there is enough pressure that you can bet he wont be around for another season. So he is for sure a shooter around here. BUT you may not have as much pressure so you could be sure he will make it another season where you are. That would be my bigest concern. At any rate he looks good. Best luck either way.

RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I'm not sure how much of an endorsement this is, but hell yeah, I'm sending 480 grains of deer killing metal straight at him!
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Would I shoot him? Depends on what I was looking for.
Based on the one picture, I am guessing 115-120" when he is all done as I don't see him past the ear by much (his left ear may be a bit pinned back and the angle of the picture may havethe right side appearing to befarther out than it would be if looking straight on). Also, I don'tthink his rack is all that tall except that hishis brow tines are pretty good. But hopefullyI am way low in my estimate. |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
where i hunt now i would take him without thinking. If i was still on the farms in MO, it would all depend on what i was seeing throughout the year
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Without a moment's hesitation, D-man.
But then again, if you're like me, your level of "pickiness" is directly correlated to your amount of vacation time (which in my case is zero). So... |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
id shoot him
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Yes I'd shoot him in a heartbeat
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
He is definately a nice buck, but if you have an area where you can protect him he will be a great buck in a year or two.
Your call! Good luck. bb I almost forgot to answerthe question. Most places I hunt I wouldpass him. |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
He would be dinner in a heartbeat.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
give him some time to breed. that's a nice rack. I'd want to make sure the genetics stay on the property
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
He would be getting an arrow sent his way STAT.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
In PA, he's getting an arrow, in IL with a 130" minimum I'd have to really study him.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
If I'm hunting in PA, definitely. He is getting shot at.
Elsewhere it would depend on where I was and what else I knew was there, but he'd still get serious consideration. |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Unless he agreed to surrender....I'm shootin.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Yes.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
wouldnt take me long to decide i was gonna loose an arrow....
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Thats a good buck Dubbya, hope you get to make the decision on him this season :D.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Unless my property is suddenly coveredwith Booners, yes, he's dead.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Yes, I would shoot that in GA. In IL, probably not, but I don't know for sure.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
uuhhh......YEH!
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
yes.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Looks like a shooter inthat picture.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
Dang, this is the first time I've checked the forum since the pic... I sure didn't expect 4 pages!!
This is the same property where I killed mine last year, so I think I'd hold up... but we'll have to see if the moment presents itself! |
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I would shoot him in a heartbeat!
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
uhhh yep he's getting whacked
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
I agree that once the velvet is off he's mid 120's. They all look so big in velvet. That being said, in PA he gets one fast! In Ohio kinda depends on when and where and what else i've seen or scouted.
|
RE: Would you shoot this deer?
No question....I would shoot him.
I mean c'mon...look at my avatar:D |
