Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
The 170 grain Snuffers I ordered arrived today. WOW.
I wasn't prepared for just how big these things are. I have no idea how they'll fly, but they sure look sweet. [:-] That's a 125 grain Slick Trick Magnum next to it, for comparison..... For you, Schultzy, ![]() Cutting diameter, ![]() And my pretty white Blazers to show the bubbly bright lung blood..... ![]() |

Very Nice!!! Gotta love those big heads. I should do a comparison with my 220grn Muzzy Phantoms and some of my other heads.

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
That thing reminds me of the giant arrows they were shooting out of the catapults at the beginning of the movie Gladiator.
I can't wait to see what they do to a deer. |
RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
Yup, they have been around for a long time and have a proven track record. Good luck with them!

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
I'm curious to your arrow, total weight now, FOC and fps/KE and to hear how they penetrate in your testings.
|
RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
OMG!!! ARE YOU HUNTING ELEPHANT?

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
According to http://www.magnusbroadheads.com/snuffers.htmlthey say that the cutting diameter is "#10945 170 grains, 1 13/32" diameter". While the picture seems to dwarf your 125g slick trick, I was surprised to see 1 13/32 as the diameter. I guess I'm just used to hearing about the massive diameters of expandables, lol. Still, no doubt that they'll serve you well especially when talking about thicker skinned game. Let us know how it flies.

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
Damn Terry that Snuffer is a big boy, specially while comparing it to the Slick Trick! Man I hope they fly well for you. I've never seen what these 170 grain Snuffers will do for making a hole, My 125's make an excellent hole and blood trail and I'm thinking these will be much bigger. You might knock the deer on his ass when you hit them with all of that force and weight behind your heavy set up. I am excited no dought! I know one thing though that there isn't to many heads out there when it comes to being durable and tough that will compare to these Snuffers, specially the 170's you will be shooting.
Good luck!! |

Be prepared to change out those blazers for 5" helical feathers. ;)
I would be very surprised if blazers provided adequate control for those snuffers at any speed. |

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
![]() Even though I tried to clean this deer up and hide the hole for the picture (it was a mess), you can still see the size hole the Snuffer cut. Now by brother in law shot one and could not find a spec of blood past the first 10 yards were he shot it. When I got there he said he would never use a Snuffer again because he knew he made a good shot and he did. It was an easy track job with a flashlight just following the freshly turned over leaves to the deer about 60 yards away. He has been a Snuffer Freak ever sinse we found that buck, it had chunks of shoulder muscle hanging outside theholes, plugging the blood up. |

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
wow thats a giant head
|
RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
Is it possible that you are losing penitration, I assume that it is heavier then your current broadhead so one might think that you are also losing FPS? I dont know just throwing out an idea that i may learn sumthing from.

RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
I sharpen mine using a large flat stone and a strap of leather glued to a pice of wood.
Start by pulling them (FLAT) across the stone from back to tip. Start with 15 reps on all 3 sides, then 13, 11, 9, and so on till you get to one and see how sharp they are, repeat the process if nessary. Once they are sharp repeat the process on the leather strap, it takes the burs off and the cutting edge will be polished. If they are real dull or have tool marks in them, dont be afraid to use a fine metal file on them to start with. just be sure to stroke the same amount of times on each side. If you have any questions PM me and I will give you my phone # |

I just need to figure out the best way to sharpen these things - they come un-sharpened. I gotta clean this Mtn. Dew up now;) I hope it works out for you. IMHO a long heavy head like the Snuffer will increase your FOC and also penetration due to the weight &low blade angle, but Damage will not be much more than a Slick Trick and/or Grizz Trick. IMO with that low blade angle you also lose the splash effect. It really depends on what kind of critter you are trying to penetrate. Dan |
RE: Man Law - Check out the size of this broadhead....
With that broadhead you could have him field dressed and quartered in one shot!

ORIGINAL: Schultzy That a lot of KE. Good luck with them! I had a few blades curl on me while shooting Slick Tricks last year, I don't see that happening with Snuffers, if they do, I'll send them back for new ones, I love customer service thats top notch!!;):D |

How do you measure momentum.....to know if it's any good, or not.....and to determine when you are at a point of diminishing returns?
Thanks. |

ORIGINAL: GMMAT How do you measure momentum.....to know if it's any good, or not.....and to determine when you are at a point of diminishing returns? Thanks. I won't accept an arrow slower than 245 - 250fps. Any slower than that and I start to get uncomfortable on longer shots (by longer I mean 25 - 30 yards). Next, the question becomes: How heavy can my arrow bein order to travel at 245 - 250 fps? |

i used snuffers for a couple of years arrow flight is not very good. poor penetration if you hit the deer too high or in a boney areaand the are hard to keep razor sharp.
