I'm kind of confused as to why you drag the deer out of the woods. Is it illegal to leave the remains in the woods where you live? Is it what other people door you were taught to do, so thats what you do? Not trying to start an argument but it takes me about 45 minutes to cape and block my deer out. I then load it all up in my pack and carry it out. What little of the remains that are left behind, are gone in a few day's, with some happy scavengers running around.

drag them to the logging road, then either the 4 wheeler or truck.
on other farms we drag em to a field, then drive up to em in there with the truck.

It is not illegal to leave remains behind in any of the states I have hunted. It is however illegal to do anything to the carcass except field dress it so quartering and cutting the head or antlers off is very illegal, at least back east it is.
