Look at this...It is a broadhead test done by a guy here at HNI!!!!! |
RE: BROADHEADS
When I read the question, I wonder if the responses you get will be based on actual hunting experiences?;)
I would want enough KE to push "the most damaging head" all the way through a deer, and I would also want it to fly to the same POI as my field points (assuming the bow is tuned). |
RE: BROADHEADS
The head that has given me the largest, most devastating wound on a deer has been a Simmons Razorshark. BUT I'm not going to presume to say is at the top of the list since I have not shot deer with every head out there. I do think the scimitar blade design is the reason for the incredible wound channel I've had with them, so it would stand to reason that their carbon steel Landshark model would do the same. Unfortunately, the company is for sale and they are not manufacturing anymore Razorshark models until it sells according to an email I received a few days ago from the current owner.

RE: BROADHEADS
as far as damage and POI compared to field points it would be therage 2 blade IMO.

RE: BROADHEADS
The Slick Trick is Tough, Super Sharp, Flies with field points, & and does extensive Damage.
Not sure what else you could ask of a Broadhead! Dan |
RE: BROADHEADS
Fixed blade... Slick trick magnum
Mechanical.... 2 blade Rage. Me, I have been shooting Slick tricks for 5 years now and no one has come out with anything that combines everythingI want into a single head like Slick tricks. |
RE: BROADHEADS
The most damaging broadhead I have everused was a well placed one. Not trying to shoot down your question but there are so many factors to how much damage a head will cause that I feel it is an empty question. I have had broadheads cause massive damage and then that same broadhead shot at the same kind of game cause very little. Same result (dead deer), same placement.

RE: BROADHEADS
Now, I'll answer the question based on what I've used[8D]
Rocket Miniblaster 75 gr. 1 3/4''[/b]- 5 deer, all pass thru shots. Recovery distances of 12, 25, 40, 45, and 60 yards. Rocket Sidewinder 100 gr. 1 1/2''[/b] - 2 deer, both pass thru shots. Recoveries of 40 and less than 50 yards. I had 60# of KE and those heads fly like field points, and leave lots of blood, but the entry holes did not impress me. I'm going to try the Spitfire this fall. |
RE: BROADHEADS
For me, I will just stay with what I have always used...
Fixed = Magnus Snuffers 125's Mech. = NAP Spitfires 125's No need for any comparisons or testing, or experimenting, I just stay with what works for me, and I am sure there are others that will swear by what they are using... |
