Did the tight angle, short shot test today at 2 yards

Then you should be able to logically tell why an arrow shot at a target 2yds from the base of the tree from 20ft up will hit basically where you are aiming. BECAUSE THE ARROW STILL MUST TRAVEL IN THAT ARC over the distance to the ground.
I shouldn't have to explain anything. If we don't read into this ......it isn't necessary.

This was on page 3 GMMAT, from one of your posts:
"For the exercise.....we'll call it a 15' stand. But as long as you're above the deer (any distance above 5').....it's a straight down shot.
Nothing ethics, here......"IF" you were gonna take the shot."
So there was elevation in the equation.

Rybo. Not "sneaky"......just figured No. 1 would be construed as being off the ground.....since there was no mention of elevation.

The thread you started Jeff was always meant to be envisioned from elevation:
"Shot #1 - 2 yds at a broadside target.
Shot #2 - ZERO yds at a deer, broadside, directly beneath you. "
How do you shoot at a deer directly beneath you standing on the ground?
That being said, I don't care anymore because I knew I wasn't going bananas in regards to how my arrows were flying.

I shot in my bow to dead on at 20 yards with field tips.
I got up aout 13 feet high and shot sets of 3 arrows at a target 6-7 feet away.
1) 1st shot, tried my 20 yard pin and aimed 3 inches low on the 3 inch center cirlce. I struck 2 inches low.
2) 2nd shot, I tried my 30 yard pin and aimed for dead center, I hit 3 inches high.
3) Shots 3,4,5,6...I used my 20 yard pin, aimed at the center of the three inch circle, and all 4 arrows struck in the middle 3 inch circle.
A couple of things about my bow. I use a drop away arrow rest. I do not use a peep sight. I use an anchor point in the corner of my mouth and let the string touch my nose for my second anchor point.
Not really sure why I am able to hit good using the method I do, because it seems everyone else uses their 40 yard pin on such tight shots?
Any thoughts on why this is happening to me? Maybe my arrow rest if not positioned correctly at full draw? Thanks for any insight.

No peep has an effect on downhill shots but you practice and know where you hit, that is the main thing but sight paralax plays a role in shooting2 yard shots from a stand. The arrow has time to close the paralax gap, even though the distance from the base of the tree is only2 yards away.

The arrow closes the gap when up in a tree 15 feet or so because the arrow is not paralel with the line of sight. So when you are shooting a 2 yard shot from a tree, you are still shooting the arrow 15+ feet, giving the arrow time to close the paralax gap.
We as hunters tend to say shoot the distance from the tree and for all intensive hunting purposes, this is correct but in reality,it isn't completely correct, arch of the arrow and sight paralax must be compensated for if you really want to get that technical with it.
