But I know he will NOT get next year's deer, that's for damn sure.
Does that answer your question, Scott?:D

I'd have to tell the taxidermist to make it right or he should be prepared to make the payment for another taxidermist to make it right. I'd try to be tactful about it (but would probably fail at that) and get it done to my liking.
This is kind of a delicate situation right here. First of all, he's a friend of mine (which actually ticks me off even more. Wouldn't you WANT your buddies deer to turn out nice????) and he's a shooter for our shop. Which is why I used him in the first place.....I'm not really sure how to handle this exactly. But I know he will NOT get next year's deer, that's for damn sure.
I know that with my friends I would not do something that I was not a subject matter expert at. I wouldn't do it for anyone else either, but a true friend would not do that to another. Evidently, he was NOT the top of his class at taxidermy school and if he was, wouldn't he be doing taxidermy full time? The people who are really good up here command really good money to do a head/shoulder mount ($750 - $1000). Anything less, you are taking chances. I have an acquaintance who will mount the first buck for people he knows for the cost of materials. He is really good but does it now as a hobby since he got hired on as a police officer (his other passion). Depending on his work schedule and how many he has in line in front of you, it can take 3 years to get the finished product back.

Since you work with him, I would tell him that I am EXTREMELY disappointed and I THOUGHT he was a PROFESSIONAL.

At some point later down the road, I would make the passing comment that "When I find someone who does a good job or service I tell everyone I know. When I have someone who gives me poor work or service, I tell everyone including strangers."

Sorry for your bad experience and I hope you can get it resolved.

The only thing I hate more than Gun Hunters trying to weasel their way into our Bow season with the X Bow, is piss poor Taxidermist work we pay hard earned money for.
And since the last time I posted on GregH's thread on how I felt about said taxidermists got DELETED, I can only copy bloodcrick's words to keep from being banned.

Good Luck.

Dang Don, I'm sorry to hear about your deer. That's a bummer. Like others said, If you are going to dish out that kind of cash to get an animal mounted it should be done to your liking. Good luck getting things worked out.
