Tuning, a useful tool for bowhunters...
Upon recieving my bow last week, I've really been working towards getting this bow shooting as well as it possibly can with my bowhunting setup. Tonight I really spent some time on it. I creep tuned, paper tuned, walkback tuned, played with my cam timing, adjusted draw length, and adjusted the cam lean at full draw. Most of this was done via the Hooter Shooter. All but the walkback tuning and paper tuning.
![]() I was really able to see the benefits at the end of the night, and picked up a substantial amount of speed. The numbers I gave in the previous thread was out of the bow speeds really. At the end of the night, I was pretty impressed with the numbers I was getting. Here's what I got. 2008 Mossy Oak X #61, 27.5" to the back of the grip, and an IBO of 330 398gr arrow----286.7fps 377gr arrow----294.1....................Fixed it, thanks WasH! 327gr arrow----314.9 Which I find really impressive for a #60 bow. It's going to be one heck of a hunting bow. Paper tuning, turned out great, I didn't even have to make ANY adjustments. My actual hunting arrows aren't in yet, so I tuned with my old GT Pro Hunter 5575's from last year because the Victory VForce 400's are the same shaft. Here was the paper tuning results, I shot from 5ft 15ft and 20yds. ![]() I honestly can't ask for anymore from this bow, it's impressed me a lot. Tuning is such a valuable tool that many archers don't take full advantage of. I guess this thread is meant to be sort of a reminder since the season is rapidly approaching. Here's the 30yd group I ended on for the night ;)....just a little right. ![]() |

398gr arrow----286.7fps 377gr arrow----284.1 327gr arrow----314.9 Anyway, glad to hear you're taking care of your bow as best you can. I'm anal about my bow's performance and if I had access to a Hooter Shooter, I'd be all over it. |

A Hooter Shooter is a valuable tool when used properly.I have acces to one but have been threatening to build one for years.
Amazing what a properly spined arrow can do through paper when the shooter doesn't torque the bow. |
