who has went from fixed to mechanical back to fixed

If there is one thing that I tinker around with it is broadheads

I have used thunderheads, muzzy, rocket sidewinders, hammerheads, rage, rcky mtn gators, magnus stingers/buzzcuts/ g-5 striker

I have taken deer with all listed, but keep coming back to fixed blade broadheads - I am going to use the magnus 4bld buzzcuts this year -

Yep, went through the cycle as well. Started with thunderheads, went to Spitfires, back to thunderheads, and now on slick tricks.

I have done that cycle two and a half times in my bowhunting career. Fixed (Bear Razorheads) to Mechanical (Puckets Bloodtrailers [:'(]) to Fixed (Muzzy 3 Blades 100grn) To Mechanical (Rocky Mtn Snypers 2 Blade and Snyper XP3's) to Fixed (Bear Razorheads 145grn) and Now this year to Muzzy Phantoms 220grn. And honestly I believe I am staying with the fixed blade heads.:D Gotta love how hard a High FOC and Heavy arrow hits. :D

I switched from Steelhead 100's to Strikers this year...mostly just for the hell of it.

I have killed 20+ whitetails and 3 bears with Steelheads and they have performed well for me.

I went from Muzzy's to Wasp Jak Hammers and then back to the Muzzy's. If I don't hit my head on something really hard I'll never shoot anything other than Muzzys again.

Thinking along the same lines - had great experiences with the magnus line and do not plan on changing anytime soon

Fixed.........to mechanicals......to fixed.....back to mechanicals.

First head was a Thunderhead. I switched ot a mechanical for the wrong reason (arrow flight issues). I switched BACK to mechanical when I wasn't getting the blood trails I wanted.

After seeing the trauma the mechanicals can produce.....I won't be switching back any time soon.

From Rocky mountain 3 blade to the Rage 3 Blade and finished with Montec. That was 2007 I'll see if if the montec's still work for me in 08

Yeah, I'm a fixed to mechanical, to fixed, back to mechanical guy too.

I'll try to list all of the broadheads I've used. Bear Razor Heads, Razorbaks,Thunderheads, Punchcutters, Bloodtrailers, Wasp Hammer SSTs, Muzzy 4 Blades, Razorbaks (new version), Steel Force Sabertooth,Rocky Mt. Revolution, Rocky Mt. Snypers, Rocket Steelheads, Rocket Sidewinders,Spitfires, and now Rage 2 blades. I'll likely be using some Innerloc Falcons this year as well.

Whew! That's a lot of broadheads!

I started with fixed and went to mech. heads because I couldnt get the fixed to fly. When I started learning more and figured out how to tune them in I went back to fixed and I am sticking with them. I will still probly use mech. heads for turkeys but that is it.

In 26 seasons I started with 160 gr Thunderheads to 100 gr Thunderheads to 100 gr Muzzy for nearly 15 years and have them today but the last 7 animals I've shot have been with the Rocky Mountain Snyper. I don't have issue with any head, I currently can group Muzzy, Slick Trick, Sonics and Snypers together. My quiver has Snypers and either Slick Trick or Muzzys in it.

I did it too and I'm happy to say, I'm a fixed broad head hunter. I started with Thunderheads 125grto Muzzy 125gr. Muzzy to Pucketts 125gr (what a joke)and back to Muzzy but with the100gr. Tried the Steelheads 100grand then to Montecs 100gr. After the Montec I went back again to Muzzy 100grfor a few seasons and now I shoot Nitrons 100gr.

This will be my third season with them and I love them. They fly perfect and do the job on everything I draw back on;)

I've always shot fixed and then bought 3 different packs of mechanicals. And never shot the first one at a critter. I'm sticking with fixed. It's an old guy thingy.

Not just an old guy thingy!! I'll never use a Mech, there will always be a fixed cut on contact on the end of my arrow.

RE: who has went from fixed to mechanical back to fixed

I've Bowhunted for 40 seasons and killed more than a few animals. I have used at least 40 or more different broadheads to kill game, and close to half of those were mechanicals.

I started with fixed, switched to mechanicals for several years, and then switched back to fixed.

I want a head that is tough as an anvil (that includes blades), it must be razor sharp, and group as well as I am capable of shooting.

I really see no advantage to using mechanicals anymore.

Dan
