RE: what broadheads do you guys prefer?
If doegirls estimates are correct about your KE levels, which is about the same as my calculations, then there is no way I wouldrecomend any expandable broadhead.
IMO 47 foot pounds of KE is way too low to be shooting expandable broadheads and I honestly can't believe so many are actually recomending them to you. ![]() Most all of them have very large cutting diameters. Which at your energy levels will definetly hinder penetration and regardless of what the manufacturer claims, all mechanicals use some of the arrows available KE to deploy the blades. Some are pretty efficient designs but they all use some energy. You should be looking at moderate to small diameter fixed blade broadehads to maximize penetration. Really no larger than about 1-1/8th inch Some very good choices would be..... CUT ON CONTACT Magnus stinger Aftersock maniac G5 montec NAP razorcap andhell razor Sonic pro Steel force Rocky Mt. iron head Eastman first cut 2 balde CHISLE TIP Slick Trick standard Wasp Boss and Boss bullet Muzzy NAP nitron Rocky Mountain blitz Innerloc stainless extreme My son is 15 years old and pulling about 63 pounds and making quite a bit more KE than you will be making and I have him shooting Slick Trick standards. My daughters set upis about 45 pounds and 25" drawand she will be shooting a two blade COC head, I haven't decided which one yet. |
RE: what broadheads do you guys prefer?
I've used an expandable Wasp jak-hammer for a couple of years, theyflew great, but blades dulled fast. Going with Stingers this year, lifetime warranty, shoot excellent, extremely sharp, no buying $15 replacement blades, no messing with o rings, and from what I've heard they are a definite killer.
