Gold Tip arrows to noisy across arrow rest

I use a Mathews overdraw (2 prong) arrowrest. Anyone experience this and what corrective action besides using the cheaper rubberized prong silencer. Currently using the long lasting teflon silencers but way to noising against carbon arrow.

Isn't there a pretty significant speed loss by adding mole skin?

Try shooting into sand if it's available or just rub them with burlap or coarse cloth to smooth the finish on the arrows. Helps alot.

I always wondererd if you couldnt coat those prongs with a graphite substance like graphite and epoxy? It would add a little but I would bet it would shut them up and also last prettner forever!

You can use car or furniture polish on your Gold Tips, and it'll quiet them tremendously.

put a thin coat of epoxy or nail polish on the prongs. ive also heard that you can sand the arrows with 500 grit sand paper to smooth the finish but i havent tryed that yet. goldtip has a new finish on there arrows that is suposed to be smoother than the dark green plus its camo color. i just orderd a dozen yesterday.

These sound like band aid solutions to the bigger issue. Is the major resolution to try the new arrow or switch arrow brands?

Try a Muzzy Zero Effect rest and wrap it with moleskin.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've drawn back my GoldTips twice too shoot a deer. Neither of them heard me do it. The only thing I do is wipe my shafts down with 303, it is a protectant that I use on my canoe to protect against UV rays. Personally I thought my aluminums made more noise than my carbons.

Put string wax on your arrow and rub it into the shaft

Are the Gold Tips that you shoot camo? The ones I purchased last summer were camo, and it was more of a coating on the arrow than anything. I use a Bodoodle rest and these arrows are quieter than any allum. or uncoated carbon.

Gold Tips have a more porous surface than many other carbon arrows. They tend to wear away the teflon on the prongs quicker as a result and make slightly more noise than other carbon arrows when you draw them.

I also had problems with them at on 3D targets....they would heat up because of the surface causing friction as they entered the target. They were very very difficult to remove and I had 2 or 3 of them actually warp out of shape and had to throw them away.

I no longer use them for those reasons.

I also noticed that they are unusually inconsistent in weight from one arrow to another.

I was told at my pro-shop that I was not the only one experiencing those same problems.

I'm done with them.

Cir cut teflon rest tape works great and won't wear out like the prongs do.It may require a little super glue to get it to stay but is worth it.

Lancaster archery sells it and the item # is cir-sa50,it is only $4.00,so it is worth a try.
