Putting everything into perspective

Just picked up a bow for the first time a few months back. Was enjoying learning how to shoot and was practicing almost daily. Then I took a fall at work and fractured a coupke of ribs. Have not been able to practice in 2 weeks. Was really bumming me out until I got a phone call from my second oldest sister. First she informs me that our older step-brother had just come out of a day in the ICU for emphasyma. Long term pronocess, not good. Then she makes me promise that I am going to be at a proposed family reunion next June. After she gets me to promise, she informs me she has been diagnosed with terminal blood and bone cancer. Made me take a step back and re-evaluate my problems.

Sorry to hear what you're going through, it doesn't take much to put life into perspective. My best friend's father has been battling stage four lung cancer for two year and made it much longer than expected, but recently has taken a turn for the worse. He is our duck and goose hunting buddy and it doesn't look like he will make it to see another season.
My Step Mother just got out of ICU and had major heart valve surgery only to find her lungs are nearly fried from smoking, she either stops smoking or falls over dead.
To top it all off another good friend (Owner of my primary hunting property) lost his wife a week and a half ago in a freak SUV accident, the thing popped out of reverse while she was getting the mail and ran her over. I have been spending a lot more time on his front porch trying to be there for him than I have out scouting.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. Sorry to hear about the tribulations in your life Racewayking. What really got to me when she was telling me the news was her demeanor. She does not feel sorry for herself. She sees this as the culmination of the path of her life. And although I'm sure she does not embrace it, she also does not fear the inevitable. In our family we call her "The Rock".
