I've shot heavy arrows for the last two years and I'm thinking about going lighter. I'm not totally sold on the idea of lighter arrows though. I've always got great arrow flight and excellent penetration out of my 500 grain arrows.

What are the details of your setup? That seems really fast for a 480 grain arrow! [:-]
Hoyt Vectrix Plus, 70 @ 30". Easton Super Slam 2512, dipped white w/ 4" shield cut feathers. 100 grain tip. To be exact, they weigh 480.4 grains, and I shot 3 arrows....281.6, 281.3, 281.4.

I shot light arrows for a few years, and they DEFINETLY have their advantages, especially on a 3D course. But I really couldn't control them as well as these. To be honest, as far as KE is concerned, when you start shooting the speeds we are.....It's a moot point, really. Last year I shot a 355 grain arrow @ 318. 80 #'s of KE. And some were ridiculing me for shooting that light of an arrow. 80#'s of KE! Come on....But, they weren't very stable flying through the air, and to be honest, I didn't realize it until tonight. These really do fly SOOOOOO much cleaner.

I still shoot aluminum 2117's with a 125 grain head. Come back to me when you get as heavy as I.

Yeah but see....when you only have a 24" DL....... I'm just sayin....

Oh and....I suddenly hear a sound I've never heard before. It's a metalic "click" when I shoot. APPARENTLY, these arrows have quieted the bow down so much I hear the drop away rest hitting bottom....Boy they sure do SMACK the wall though.....

The weight and higher foc definately make for a more forgiving and stable arrow but so does the slower speed,if you can really call 280 slow.Seems we had this conversation a few times.

I don't get that kind of speed out of 360 grain arrow.[8D]

TFOX, we certainly did. It just didn't make sense until I experienced it. I really thought what I had was awesome, and I loved it.

I still don't have anything really negative to say about light/fast, but I'm not going there anymore.

I shot FMJ 340's weighing 460 grains out of my 30" draw,71# Guardian at 286 FPS last year. My arrows blew right thru both deer with a 2" Rage attached to the front.

They bury pretty deep in my 3D target too.
