Rob - that doe's head is ridiculous. She's and old one for sure. She couldn't quite figure out what I was as we were in waist-high grass and I was downwind of her. Eventually she got nervous and scampered off, but not far.
Justin:

I posted about a doe I saw, here, last year. She looked JUST like the one in the second photo.....and I called her "Horse head". What a beautiful doe.

So a does snout gets longer as she ages?

Mo:

I asked the wildlife Bio, here, about this. He told me that the size of a doe and her age were mutually exclusive (body size.....we didn't specifically address snout size). That is.....the largest does I am seeing are likely 2-3.5yr olds. Around HERE.......does get smaller with age (after being larger during the age span I mention). It's a product of their environment and how they adapt, HERE.

No idea in other regions.

I'm in your boat. My parents still live in Deerfield and I take a drive around the forest preserves when I am out there. The bucks that I have seen make me sick! 30 yards away standing there, I think they know that I am a deer hunter and laugh while they stand there! Single parcels of Hundreds of Acres of forest preserves and tax payers have the flip the bill for $300 a deer to cull the population. It just isn't right. I once went out 10 years ago and find 8 drop antlers in one day! If it wasn't for these anti's they would have opened up these bigger forest preserves to bow hunting years ago IMO.
