Deer love alfalfa

RE: hay and deer
I'd hunt over alfalfa before any other crop. I guess we're all assuming it's an alfalfa field, is that correct?

RE: hay and deer
Deer love hay, especially if its tall grassy hay, it provides them great cover not to mention the wild strawberries that grow in it.

RE: hay and deer
I have found that deer really like hay/alfalfa/clover right after it is freshly cut. About a week or two after all they new growth really attracts them.
Also, like wis said above, if it is allowed to grow really tall like switchgrass deer will use it for cover bedding... I assume this hay your are talking about is gettin bailed so hopefully the farmer bails it a few weeks before the season and the deer should hit it pretty hard! Good luck! |
RE: hay and deer
Hay is a very general term, it could be grass hay, alfalfa hay etc...If it is alfalfa, money...If other kind of hay it depends on what else that is natural is around. Where I hunt they are thick in the alfalfa and hardly ever in the grass hay fields.
