Just a thought, Deer vision.

Do you think deer live long enough to loose some of there vision, less than 20/20? Does anyone know of any facts?

I doubt we see any of those deer. At what age, 8 ? I really don't know but vision certainly isn't their best trait, thank goodness. Imagine excellent eyes with that damn nose and those satellite ears.

We've got animals with all kinds of injuries and ailments. I've never thought of it.....but it would stand to reason that some would hear better than others......see better than others....some would lose their hearing......lose their sight, etc..., etc..., etc...

I'm sure age would be a factor, but I'm not sure it's the ONLY factor.

Never thought about this......but it's an interesting topic. I guess natural selection figures in, here, as well. The slow ones.....the ones with sight problems......ones that don't hear well........the really curious ones.......die, first.

I think that is the primary factor. Wild animals would not survive very long with impared vision, particularly. Natural selection over a few millenia keeps them with good eyesight. A large chunk of the human pop has poor eyesight since it is no longer crucial to our survival.
