Do Grim Reapers make good entry holes?
If you have used Grim Reaper mechanicals, like the Razor Tip, on deer how was the entry hole?
Post pics. if possible. |
RE: Do Grim Reapers make good entry holes?
They are no different than any other mechanical for the most part. I have seen an entry hole that my father in law made with a grim reaper and it was fairly small. If you want large entry holes go with a rear deploying head like the rage 2 blade. The 2 blade offers a bigger cutting diamater. Heres a pic of an entrance hole from a rage that i put through a doe last year.

Rage is not for me. I've seen issues with them opening in the quiver, they do have an o-ring, and IMO a lot of exposed blade surface area for a mechanical.

I've used the GR's since 2003. The holes were adequate, the deer died.[&:]Every deer I shot with them dropped in sight, so the blood trail wasn't an issue. I've never taken pics of wounds before, so I can't help you there.

Rage is not for me. I've seen issues with them opening in the quiver, they do have an o-ring, and IMO a lot of exposed blade surface area for a mechanical. Buy a Bohning quiver. The quiver doesn't employ foam as a seat for the BH's.....and with two connection points for your arrow.....your heads will "hover" in the protective end of the quiver (where the foam usually is). Good luck with your choice. There's a LOT of good heads out there. |
RE: Do Grim Reapers make good entry holes?
I have killed a few deer with GR. I like them, found nothing wrong with them at all. As far as entry hole goes, I don't really remember too much about it, so that leads me to believe that the entry holes must not have been way impressive, or I would have remembered that. They are a very good BH, I am sure you will be happy with them if that is the route you choose. Good luck!
