http://www.michigansportsmanmag.com/hunting/bowhunting-hunting/mi_aa082504a/index.html THere is a guy in NY who shot a 215'' buck with a long bow last year. He has taken many nice ones, does anyone know his name? I have a picture but I cannot find it[:@] |
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
Why me, of course..I'm unknown cuz I don't put a hell'uva a lot of them on the ground :Dbut I see more quality animals than 50 other guys. ;)

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
'Tis I, Germ. The most known unknown.

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
Thx for your help:D I see Fran disease is spreading[:-]
Is there a guy in MN besides you that just lays them down[8D] |
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
The mad dumper is a prolific poac.....I mean hunter.....and as stealthy as a 70 yr old, papa smurf-looking, degenerate, back-woods, white-trash piece of **** can be.
Deep woods Play-A.....he is.......but he flies under the radar. Cat-like.....really. Like it never really happened. A true ghost......unless he's taking a ****. |
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
Heck if I knew him/her, he/she wouldn't be unknown. So my answer is "I don't know". Although my mentor is the best under known hunter in Iowa. He can call in turkey without a call, he will spend countless hours patterning deer movement, I've seen him drop a buck on a dead run with a bow, he fishes whenever he can, he's married and is a great father to his stepson. And he is so selfless he makes me look like a bogart. If I could nominate someone for Epitomy of A Friend, it would be Sgt Lonnie. He's also a Sergeant with a Sheriff's Office.

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
I havn't done it lately but what is kind of a neat thing to do is go through the Pope and Young record book in each state and see who has multiple entries. There are some guys out there getting it done with very little fan fare.

It is so hard with certain folks. My inclination is always to give the person the benefit of the doubt and I don't like to diminish any one's accomplishments. It is sometimes not easy to distinguish between the players and pretenders.
We had a guy several years ago honored as sportsman of the year among our contingency of sportmans clubs. The guy was one of the most prolific poachers our area has ever known. It isn't always easy to get to the truth. |
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
XXX and XXX. They wish to remain unknowen.[8D]

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
the self bowyers who make their own stuff and kill animals with it - those guys you RARELY hear about and yet they are the true essence of what bowhunting and archery is

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
as much as i wish it was me, i think it really is a local carpenter, who over the last 20 years has taken 22 bucks over 135" ( it is all he will mount) and the amazing thing is that 19 of the m were taken in jersey. for all you non-jersey residents, a BIG buck from this state probably gross 115
|
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
That's really impressive! I wonder what he is doing that no one else is?
|
RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
Bobby Woods from MS....He's taken 9 P&Y bucks on public land... I only know a few guys that have multiple P&Ys from MS, much less public land...
He's well known in this state and has been featured nationally a few times.... One of my good friends has 4 pope's from MS and is well on his way to being known with pro staff positions with a couple big names.... |

RE: Best Unknown Hunter in your state
I agree that it is not the number of game taken or the size of the game, it would be more of:
1. Hunting morals and mores of the person; 2. His/Her willingness to introduce others into hunting; 3. His/Her overall lifestyle; & 4. His/Her attitude towards life. |

Keith does more for the youth of our area than anyone I know.....and he also puts some very good representative deer from our area on the ground, each year. That man has my respect.....and I support his charity (via the charitable contributions thread we had here, last year) with what I can. Thanks for bringing those ponts up, AF. I don't know a better friend to the hunter and ESPECIALLY the youth of our area than Keith. I "think" his charity is 'youth outdoors connection'. If you're looking for a cause to support.....and want to rest assured that your donation is well-spent......look no further than this one. God Bless him. |
