I am so pissed I could scream. My father in law gave up his two leases in Georgia last year due to a debilitating nerve condition. He falls over a bit now and it is just damn hard for him to walk far at all. He LIVES to hunt. You go in his house and there is not a coffee table, bed stand, or back of a toilet that doesn’t have a hunting magazine on it. He was going to sell all his rifles but I told him to keep one to kill himself with because that is what he was doing if he sold them all. Well I got a grand notion in my head that I would give him this year to hunt and do the work. I got the lease up in Lafayette county Florida. I have three feeders and a fourth going in two weeks. I have placed two, two man ladder stands for comfort and have established a ground blind that you can drive right up to at the end of a road with a feeder and salt block set at 19 yards and 7 inches. I put in a chair with armrests and I put in a bar so he can pull himself up out of his seat. I have the entire road planted with iron clay peas and have basically worked my ass off putting this whole f’ing whiz bang together to give him the best damn year I can.

Now here is the crap. When I go over to their house about every other week we get together and ogle the deer pictures from my game cams like two 13-year-old boys that found out the Internet has porn. He smiles like a kid in a candy store and I love to show him the 10 point (I used to think 8) in velvet that has been walking right past his ground blind around 6:30 every morning. He is really looking to have great hunting year and I want to give it to him. MY MOTHER IN LAW AND WIFE SAY NO!!!! They do not want him to go because they are afraid he might get hurt. My wife and I got into a pissing match with the inevitable outcome of the fact that I lost. I told her that I hope to God some day some young guy will strap my dive gear on me and shove me off the side of the boat so I can die shooting my last grouper. She was very much unaffected. So I cannot believe that I am not going to be taking him hunting. I even thought about just telling them to kiss my butt and kidnap him but I would be on the couch for a Looonnngggg time. So on September the 20th opening day of archery for deer happens in sunny Florida and I worked to damn hard on that stand not to put someone in it. It sounds kind of weird but I made it as accessible for a person with a disability as I was able. I would like to give it to someone that might not have a chance to hunt because they are a bit stuck and cannot get through the woods like they used to or ever did before. Kids are ok but they have to have a chaperone.

Here are the details

It is a ground blind that can seat 2 people in it.
There is a feeder 19 yards in front and a salt block 22 yards to the right.
You can drive right up to the blind with a car or truck.
The deer trail comes from the woods and walks right past the front window.
I got deer and hogs hitting it every day and all day.
Please shoot some does also, we have WAY to many
Price: FREE!
[ul][/ul]

So anyone know anybody that wants to go to Mayo, Florida and try for a deer on opening day. Hell I even got a dually that would hold a wheelchair just fine.

Pop me a pm with a number and details if interested.

You're a good man. I hope someone is willing to do the same for me when I get to that point. Hope it works out. Don't give up. I would think the decision was up to him. As someone else said, might be a good idea to show the wife and mother in-law what you've set up.

Good luck.

remember it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission. Take him out there & let the chips fall wherer they may. I hope I have one of my boys do the same that you did for your father in law. That's exactly the way I'd want to go out, doing what I love to do the most. Here's to you my friend & all the effort you put into it. "They" never ever will understand what "we" see in being "out there". They obviously don't realize what it means to him, & they are only thinking of themselves & what will happen if he gets hurt.
go for it!!! for hissake.

we were coming off the TN river bowfishing a few weeks back and an old guy (76 y/o) was headed out fishing by him self. I thought it was cool but was a little worried about him, then he said he did it every day and he hopes someday someone finds him in his boat and not on the couch! Thats the way everyone should go out, doing what they love. Have your wife and her mom watch the bucket list and then tell them if he wants to go then you're taking him! Good luck and God bless you and your F-I-L

Your F-I-L should have the final say in this.

Living isn't aways about choosing the safest path.

Sounds like your M-I-L and wife are being very selfish.

Your FIL needs to make this choice and the women should have no part in this, this is what he has lived for all his life. Its his passion. Youll be right with him the entire time. Theres no need for the women to be overly concerned. How would they feel if He would happen to pass away the day after he was supposed to go hunting. I bet theyd feel pretty damned bad that they wouldnt let him do this one more time. if he wants to go, take him, sometimes I prefer the couch. My wife knows that if she didnt let me hunt or hunt with her dad, thered be hell to pay in the end. We all need to do what we need to do, and your FIL needs this more than anything right now. Take him. It would meen the world to not only you but him more than anything, and you know it.

Sleeping on the sofa can be quite relaxing and restful. Go for the kidnapping. Dig out your man card.

Actually, I want to change my stance a little..... To hell with sleeping on the couch... you are the man. Take him and while you are waiting on that day to get here, begin building yourself a separate bedroom..... Have it ready when you need it..... when she says thats not necessary, that you don't have to sleep on the couch or anywhere else ..... tell her you are doing it because you want to. You don't do well with ultimatems. When she learns her place in life, you'll consider coming back to bed.

Take control...... get a pair.....

MET
