Stupid color choice mistake-what to do

I don't know why I did this but I did; when I purchased my new doz. arrows Easton Axis n-fused I bought them with black and red vanes. After getting them home and using them I immediately realized what a poor color choice that was for visibility and I am debating on shaving all of them off for a better color choice. I am shooting an unbelieveably expensive broadhead (that I love) and I am really worried about finding the arrow. Three of the arrows already need new vanes on them but I cannot decide if it is worth it to rip off the remainder. Black and red-what the hell.

I'd strip 'em... visibility is so important to me in the deer woods... I go so far as to cap and crest my arrows for that reason. It's literally amazing how much the woods change once you climb out of your treestand and hit the dirt when it comes to finding your arrows after you've shot them.

Until I needed to replace most of the vanes because they were tore up I'd just keep shooting them. After that i would refletch how I wanted them.

I have red and black on mine and have been thinking the same thing. I am just going to use them for target for now on and get new ones before the season starts.

Use a lighted nock. Problem solved. :D

Lighted nock = $10/arrow

New Fletchings = > $1/arrow

Lighted knocks also seem to have technical problems if you read the reviews...I would still try them if I could afford them...but I can't, lol.

keep em on till hunt'n season approaches, then change out. That way you'll have fresh vanes for the hunt.

I have purple/black and red/black also on my practice arrows because I like the way they look. My hunting arrows have orange vanes and flourescent green wraps.

change em all, I went with white barred feathers and arrow wraps to ensure good visibility on my arrows. A cool looking arrow makes all the difference lol!

If your not happy with them change them

Change them....not for the expensive broadhead, but for the ability to see your arrow in flight.

If you think about it, how much do you spend on everything else a broadhead is kinda minor.

I just refletched all of my arrows to two inch.

I had a variety of 4 inch quick spins and others and wanted to equalize all arrows to the exact weight, color etc.

It gave me a Spring mission.

I used2 whites and 1 neon green.

I know you are talking vanes but I had bought some camo colored arrows and paid extra for them . Afterwards I thought how foolish that was and that I had paid extra for the camo . I put wraps and bright vanes on the arrows .

I have a hard time trying to choose!! I really do like the white/chartruese combo, but I bought three different colors of blazers last year and decided to look like a clown going in the woods!
They are all bright, and then I have the Tracer lighted nocks on them so I dont have NO PROBLEMS at all finding my arrow in the woods!!

......I would definantely go with a white wrap everytime for hunting!!

RE: Stupid color choice mistake-what to do

I liek to use any fletching that is going to stick out against any back ground. Chartruse is a good one as well as pink, white and blaze orange. I prefer 2 differnet colors, one being white. This way if im unsure of the shot when I recover the arrow the color of the blood will tell if I hit anything vital. The lighter colored blood pinkish is an idication of a lung. Darker usually means more muscle, such as heart or what not.

I'd leave them unless they bother you that much. To tell you the truth, unless you plan on shooting into tall grass, finding an arrow shot from an elevated stand is not all that hard to find. I never had any trouble anyway.

I'm not gonna go back and read all the replies, again.....but I "think" greg/MO made the point about how different EVERYTHING looks once you're on the ground. It is amazing.

I like all white....with 6" cresting/reflective wraps. Even with this combo.....I still have troubles finding arrows, sometimes. The white also helps in the "CSI" type reading of the hit. I like it for that reason, as well.

Like Bob said, though.......if it were me....and they were already fletched.....I'd likely shoot them and worry about it on my subsequent batches.

Good luck.
