I have practicing stealth mode while getting at full draw while pointing the bow at target during drawback. The only sound is coming from the velcro on my release. I hate it! what about the hand release with no wriststrap. is it that much worth it?

I've never had a problem with the velcro. I draw the bow as soon as I get settled in my stand and "seat" the velcro. It had never made a noise that I've noticed when drawing on game.

I don't like velcro releases for the simple fact that it is hard to be consistent all the time with them. On a strap release you put the thingy in the same hole everytime therefore being consistent. I also believe they are more sturdy.

Truball (and probably other manufacturers) makes replacement straps with buckles to eliminate the velcro sound:

Go with a buckle strap. You can buy them to fit your release, I just bought a couple new ones.

I am a huge fan of wriststraps that are buckle style. Scott archery makes great ones. I personally shot their wildcat with the rcs and love it.

I have shot alot of different brand releases and have found that I am most comfortable with the scott releases. Just a personal preference though. I sell both tru fire and scott and the tru fire are good releases also but i like scott a little better.

This is exactly what I have done in the past but I have come to love that Little Goose with the buckle.

Thats EXACTLY what releases are... total reflection of personal preferences.

Personally I hate Scotts..... they are super small... WAY to light of a trigger pull... and I hate their buckles... you need a third hand to get them on because the prong of the buckle is fixed and doesn't pivot.... its impossible to get tight.

I've shot just about every make I've come across from straps to T handles to back tension.... and I keep going back to a Tru-Fire Judge Buckle..... I just feel the most comfortable with it and shoot it the best..... and thats what matters.... just what YOU are comfortable with.

I just switched to the Scott Little Goose with buckle strap. I like it a lot. It is very smooth. I totally intended on purchasing one of the new Tru Fire releases, but I didn't like how the jaws automatically close when trigger is released. I prefer how the jaw opens and stays open on the Scott releases.

Velcro? What the hell... I mean seriously would you wear velcro boots or a velcro coat? pretty simple.

I like and use a Fletcher .44 caliper buckle, for what its worth I love it.

The best thing to do is to go to a shop and ask to shoot some diff. styles, models, and brands to see what fits your needs best. I never could get use to a hand release with no strap. I would definately get away from velcro because of the inconsistent placement on your wrist.

Stealth mode? Pointing the bow at the target? How do you normally draw?

I have no noise issues from my Velcro wrist strap.

Stealth Mode: Being as quite as possible while nocking arrow and setting up for aim
Pointing bow at target: Without pointing at sky on drawback, keeping target in front of sight
Normal Draw: Point bow at target, and draw back as to keep target in eyesight while drawing.

With you being "life member" and all...you probably shoot 3D and have been taught by professionals. I dont read instructions when putting stuff together, and pick up things well when I try them myself. I taught myself how to shoot, and been practicing my drawback (70#'s) without lifting bow. Even sitting with legs straight out and drawing bow without lifting.

Thats why the only sound I can hear when Im drawing is the occasional velco setting. If I shoot a few times I dont have that problem, however after climbing into my stand at 6 AM I dont want the velcoro to be the thing that spooks the deer.

Im either getting a buckle or a T handle that I have been practicing with. Thanks for the advice everyone.

All “life member” means is that I sometimes have a boring job and spend too much time on the computer.
Reality, is that 2 days ago was my first 3D, and it wasn’t even an Official Event.
I was semi self-taught to shoot a bow, as I did get some advice from my dad who was a HORRIBLE shot himself, until we both figured out what we were doing on our own. Even then it’s probably only recently that I even come close to having decent form.

I never was comfortable pulling a bow back doing the skyward thing, but I know that’s fairly common. So to me “normal” draw, “stealthy” draw are one in the same, I point the bow in the direction of the target and draw it back.

To eliminate the little Velcro noise, once you strap it on, just squeeze or press over your strap and that should take care of it.

I have a Scott Little Goose with a velcro strap and from time to time the velcro made a noise when coming to full draw. I replaced that with another Little Goose with a Buckle Strap and now a Scott Wildcat with a Buckle Strap. I love the buckle straps. Very repeatable to get it on and adjusted to the proper fit. And virtually no chance for noise. Look around and see if a buckle strap replacement is made for your specific release. I know a few manufacturers do this. Also there are some aftermarket buckle straps available out there too. I believe Lancaster Archery carries some of these.

Yes actually I would. Particularly my camo jacket. I wear Enigma camo and there are velcro straps in a number of locations. The benefits far outweigh any potential drawback. If you know how to use it properly velcro is a non issue where noise is concerned.

I shoot a scott wildcat and love it..I had an older style cobra that made alot of noise...I think the buckle on the wild cat is easy to use...never had an issue with it. the wc is also adjustable in lenght.
