I will be ready. But for me it's mostly about getting them so close that it would be very hard to miss.

I've taken 9 deer with my bow in the last three years, and 8 of them were between 10 and 20 yards.

From 15 - 20 yards I REALLY like my chances on a broadside or slightly quartering away whitetail. :) At that distance I feel like there is just no way I'm going to miss.

RE: Will you be ready to take the shot?

I started out shooting deer targets in the back yard. We currently have 3 set up in the woods behind the house, with 2 tree stands. The usual competition is to see how hard of a shot (angle, thru bushes, kneeling, sitting, etc...) we can make. The senario that helped me the most when it came to the actual hunt was the timed shot. Where whoever had the best shot taking the most time to draw, hold and release. With the eyes on the ground on my first hunt it took me about 3 minutes to get my bow up and drawn. Without practicing moving so slow I think I would have scared off the deer. When it came to the shot, it was like I was in the back yard. Even though I had never shot a deer before, I felt like I had shot hundres of them practicing on the life size deer targets. Dont get me wrong I was pumped, but was confident in my placement because of the preperation.
