Youth bow?
 

I have a cousin that is just starting to bowhunt. He is about 13 and has turned to me for suggestion. He is shooting and older bow of mine. He has the basics and is wanting to upgrade to a better bow. He is at that awkward stage where the youth bows are too small and the adults bows dn' t have the flexiblity. I want him to have the flexibility needed as he grows. He is looking to keep this purchase to less than $400.

Now I want him to have a serious hunting bow. No kiddie bows. He is past the learning/beginner stage. Here are just some thoughts of mine.

Mathews FX, Hoyt Magnatec, or Bowtech Strikerlite-has the interchangable cams for adjustment of draw length for a minimal cost. Cost - less than $400.

Any suggestion would be nice

I am 15 and i started out with a spyder Made by PSE it is a great bow, so is THE BEAST my friend has that one and he just upgraded from 60# limbs to 70# limbs so it has the flexibility. I would look at the PSE selections they arent expensive either probably around 400.

I bought my 12yr old son a Champion Badger bow for christmas. 23-27" draw by changing modules, 30 or 40lb limbs, single cam, 80% let off. www.championbow.com

I,m purchashing a Browning Mirco Midas 3 for my son it has 10" draw adjustment 18" -28" so that sould keep him in a bow for a while.....
If your son is like my other son 13 and all arms and legs and has a 28" draw see if you cann' t find a good used one by matthews hoyt martin....
Martin has the Z-cams with the most ajustablity- my oldest is shooting an old lynx that I had put those on and a 50# top end. Have him feel it so tht it is right for him also./

Champion Storm in the single cam can be changed from 24" to 31" draw length and comes in peak wts of 50, 60 and 70lbs. The 60 lb could be backed down to the neighborhood of 45 and the 70 to about 55. The draw lengths change using modules. The bow is in the 400 dollar neighborhood and is a very good bow. If he prefers a slimmer bow he could try sevral of the Forge bows in the same class. I think the Forge bows shoot better than the Champion and as good as any bow on the market. If you want to go with a tried and proven company then go with PSE. They make several bows that will fit a younger shooter that can still match up to the demands of an adult shooter looking for a quality bow.

Parker makes the Hunter Mag II. Draw length adjustable with modules. Can take a 60# and back it down to 45#. 37" ata. Light and fast. The bow sells for $300. Can get the Hunter Mag II Outfitter. Comes with sight, quiver, rest, peep, 4 carbon arrows, release, bow sling and whiskers all set up to shoot. Around $420. Draw length adjust from 24-32 inches, weight of bow is 3.6#.

My son is 14 and uses a hoyt mt sport and really likes it,I think i paid somewhere around $280 for it.
