15 yards or closer. I will shoot out to 25 yards, but would rather them be under 15 yards.

I prefer a 20 yard shot not to close for a steep angle and not to far away

The deer that come by me are always between about 5 an 20 yards. Thats the way I like it.
I did shoot one a couple years ago at about 25 yards. I practiceout to 40 yards just to make the closer yardage easier.

I have found that most of my shots have been under 20 yards, but if I could choose my shot I would like it to be between 20-25yds,from 20-25ft up a tree the angle is a lot better than say a 10-15 yd shot.

I like the 25-30 yard action. In my experience, inside 20 yards the first movement of a deer when they hear to bow go off is some type of bodily movement. Extend that distance to 30 and beyond, and the first movement they make is to pick their head up and look in the direction of the sound. By then... it's too late. If my shooting performance dropped off after 20 yards, I'd reconsider that thought... but for now I like a little bit of real estate between us.

I'll play out to 50 yards under the following conditions...

My 3 year old girl and I ate sausage on a 53 yard doe kill last year...

The luma knock looked awesome flying through the sky....On video? No...and I'm mad about it...

If Iget a choice, I love the close stuff, having them right in your lap, when you can hear them breathing.. 10-15 yards.. especially if and when your hunting off the ground. Before they hear the bow, the arrow is already through them..

I think out west where I am my typical elk shot on the ground is 20-35 yards. On Muleys it is more like 30-40 yards but depending on the terrain and how pressured the animals are plays a key role.
