o and i probably would have gotten one if we would have known the 400 pound boar we were trying to get was nocturnal, it took us 3 of the 5 days to learn thatand switch baits, next year were bringing our cuddebacks up so we know when the bears are hitting the bait
Don't they use trail timers?

i hear ya on that one, which we told them a couple of the things that would have worked better like using trail timers and getting more comfortable stands, and they are just starting to make the money to be able to afford that and they said next year, they will have them

Exactly, Steve. If I was an outfitter, I'd want to know as much about my local bear population as possible. This would make the odds as good as they could be for my clients. Happy/successful hunters = come backs!;)Oh well, you still had a good time.:D

o yea, they were the nicest canadian guides i have ever met and and have really great hunting ground, they have 35bait sites that they bait with beaver year round
Sorry you didn't have a better hunt Steven, but I have a couple comments.

1. 35 sites that they bait with beaver year round? That's a hell of a lot of beavers to go through in a year.

2. IMO baiting year round is a bad idea. No matter the year or how many berries there are, I won't start baiting until 2-2.5 weeks before my first hunters.

3. A spring hunt can be tough. The boars are usually traveling a lot looking to breed and seldom hit the same bait day after day.

Good luck next time man.
