RE: My bow is finally here!
I have been busy practicing , working and getting ready for the big trip .
Back muscles are the ones you wanna work on , if you keep pulling that bow they will get better . |
RE: My bow is finally here!

You're welcome, and please let us know how it goes, ok? ;) |
RE: My bow is finally here!
What are you planning to hunt with a 30 lb. bow? It isn't even legal to take on big game in many states with bows lighter than 35 or 40 lbs.

RE: My bow is finally here!
very nice bow!

ORIGINAL: Roskoe What are you planning to hunt with a 30 lb. bow? It isn't even legal to take on big game in many states with bows lighter than 35 or 40 lbs. I can bearely pull 30. I will need to build with practice and get up to my bows max DW which is 40Ibs. I know that where I am going in Mississippi there is no min DW specification. |
RE: My bow is finally here!
Nice bow, you will be able to pull enough weightin a few months. |
RE: My bow is finally here!
Keep working on 30#... It'll draw with some practice
|
RE: My bow is finally here!
Thats how I was when I got my first bow. I could barely draw back 40 pounds and could probably only shoot about 5 times before my arm would hurt.
Eventually though I got those muscles used to it and now I am pulling about 52 pounds. You will get the hang of it:) |
good news!
I managed to pull the bow right back, it anchors at my leftcheek, really swell and a very smooth draw cycle.
I was worrying for nothing![&o] |

RE: good news!
sounds like yu were scared to pull the thing back???
Are you pulling with fingers or a release? im asking because pulling with a release seams easier...especially with certain styles. it will get easier and youll be raising poundage in no time. if you know how to work out....work your 4arms and Tricept a little everyday(dumbells or stik weighted with milkjugs for forearm curlsand use a Chair to do whati call "chair dips" for tricept/back) this guy is doing chair dips...... ...you can dowhat i call reverse pushups wich are great if you want a lowstress exercise (just put your back to the wall and push yourself away with your elbows, do this untill you cant anymore.....you can move your feet out or in for more or less weight...also your elbow position makes a difference in how the muscles are worked)...i did these when i messed up my shoulder...it helped me rehab when i wasnt quite ready to lift anything. drawing a bow is different than any exercise but a little workout everyday will help tighten up the ol muscles. |
RE: good news!
hey RJ, nice to see you got you're first rig set up, well almost.....
like the guys say, just keep practicing the right muscles. You might want to do some googling to see how to draw back the correct way, without straining anything. And post a pic with your bow at full draw, so we can see your anchor and chck if your DL is ok.... Have fun..... F. |
RE: good news!
sorry ment to say "RG", not RJ..............:)

very nice set up RG, you should be proud of that one ;)

RE: My bow is finally here!
If your not sure what the bow is set at. One thing you can do is to turn the bolt on the top or bottom limb in to the riser and count exactly how many turns it took and then back it out exactly how many turns you put in and make sure your rachet or allen wrench is at the exact same location it was when you started.
If it only goes in like 1 turn or less, its definatley not at 30. If it goes in 3 turns, you can count on it being 30 or there abouts. I think with that bow, you can bottom out the riser bolt (to max wieght)and then safely back out 2.5 complete 360degree turns. Check your manual. Beleive me, just starting out, it won't take long before you want to crank it to 40lbs. Starting out is tough. |
RE: My bow is finally here!
Thank the lord:D
Congrats |
RE: My bow is finally here!
Take your time, and don't over do it. Only try to pull it back 3 or4 times a day for a couple weeks. Then do a littlt more at a time. You can handle it. it just takes time to get the correct muscles tuned.

With mine, the gate around the corner is blocked off and my neighbour is away to Germany. She knows about it ;)
|
RE: First time shooting my bow
![]() that set up would make me to nervous that some one would walk out in front . Make sure that gate is locked we don't want any reports of an accident |
RE: First time shooting my bow
and oh yea congrats on the new bow

RE: First time shooting my bow
Just an observation but I looked at both the the hunters friend and the diamond sites and they don't have a listing for the rock at 40 pounds. The diamond site shows 60 and 70 and hunters friend shows it at 50 to 70. The draw length is 25 to 30 so if you need to go shorter you can't with that bow. Check the birth certificate and the sticker on the bow. They will tell you all the info.
