How often do you replace your bow string?

About how long do you wait, to put new bow string on your bow?

I voted "other":D.When I get a new bow,I make a new string for it.About a month before bow season opens,I put new strings on the bowsI plan to hunt with and use the old one as a back-up

I will buy a new set and put them on early too and save them as back up as well but after that I won't change them till they show wear and need it.

I change mine about every 2 years but to be honest,I could go 3-4 most likely.I use low poundage and really don't shoot that much anymore and I have HIGH quality rigging on my bows.

When I was competing, they got restrung every year.

I'm also looking to get those factory strings off of there as soon as possible. Once I get a bow all tuned and dialed in, I don't want to have to start twisting strings and cables every few hundred shots and then tweak it all over again. That's why I like the BCY452X strings that Bucknasty makes up. 20 shots or so and that's it for stretching.

My last string on my Recurve lasted 8 years. I'm going on 5 years now with this string.

With the quality that strings are today and the fact that I spread my shooting around to a couple of different bows. 2 years usually catches me.

I always have a backup set around though;)

Every 3 years unless I see the string fraying or damaged then asap.

On my hunting bow. I'll probably go 2 years. I just don't shoot it as much. On my target rig, I'll definately replace after this year.

Every two years. Preventative maintenance, no other reason ;).

Is there a good reason to replace strings other than fraying? My peep hasn't moved and the bow shoots very well.

I have the original set of Winners Choice strings on my Ross and they look the same as they did 2 years ago when I got the bow. A little bit of fraying that happened right away before I started waxing the string. Now I wax the string every couple weeks and I only shoot about 10 arrows per day average. That 10 arrows per dayis over 2 years though.

Im still shooting my original string since 2001. But its been served twice and is still in good condition. Will probably put a new one on this year and go with a tubeless peep as well.
