ORIGINAL: DropTine249 If they want it bad enough and you dont catch them, its gone. I use really heavy chains and master locks. The ones that normal bolt cutters cannot fit around. |

RE: Treestand Thieft Prevention?
I think there are several ways to decrease theft. simple lock will make the lazy ones go away, lock on stands a good option. put it up and use a portable latter system or take several of the bottom tree steps out and put them in while hunting. simpliest one I do is location, make them hard to find. not everyone is going to walk through ruff areas, steep hills sides work well. one thing i see in my area is DON'T TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THEM OR LOCATIONS. If you start to brag, it just might end up gone..lastly use a gps to find stands not markers

RE: Treestand Thieft Prevention?
I pay a group of guys to sit under all my stands with gunswhen i'm not using them.
Really thow, the private land I hunt, everybody on the boarding properties know each other so it's kinda mutual trust, but we still lock the stands. Also if I know i'm not going to be using the stand for awhile, I will just take out all the tree steps. When I hunt public I take my climber so there's no need to worry about that. |
