RE: Anyone Apply For There ILLINOIS NR Deer Tags?

I would like to apologize on behalf of the true sportsmen of Illinois. Due to the last two elections for Governor our state has been filled with greed and abuse of the Natural Resources we used to love to share with our fellow out of states sportsmen. Our Governor takes, takes and takes more from our Resources to pay down a state debt that is filled with corruption, clout payouts and poor spending programs. We charge more for out of state hunters yet our DNR is stretched and theft and poaching is on the rise.

I no longer have the opportunity to hunt with my father or step brother as it is too expensive for them to come back to hunt the state they grew up in. When I read threads like this I get embarrassed that my state feels a hunter should pay the same amount for a 300lb animal that states like Colorado charge to hunt a 600-800lb animal. I for one am truly sorry that our state feels the need to extort such fees for what they feel are "Trophy Animals" and "Trophy Opportunity". Sad thing is that they know people will pay it and continue to push the envelope charging more.

I'm from New Jersey and our governor is no differnt then yours.....takes, takes, and takes some more. Funny thing is, our governor was born and raised in Illinois, could it be something in soil? I agree, very expensive to hunt there, but I have something great there in Brown County, and the local people are super nice, nothing like the A-holes of New Jersey

I will be hunting a weekend or two in Brown County, when you heading there? What area of the county, the property I am going down to is south and west of Mount Sterling.

raceway we will be out there around November 3rd, give or take a few days, and we will be there thru the shotgun season. We are also just outside of Mt. Sterling, just off Hwy. 107, I think that is the Hwy. It is the Hwy. that runs behind the state prision. Have you ever gone into Flynn's Market? Behind the lunch meat counter in the rear, ask to see the mounts, they will let you view them. Bring paper towels, cause you will drool

I will have to check it out, we are slipping in before shotgun season to try and get a good buck before all the blasting begins.

I did the online application on Sunday morning. 8 PA guys heading to Pike Co. on 11-06-08. Good luck to the rest of you guys making the trek this season. $473 seems relative to the price of gas we'll be paying to travel out there in Nov.
