Lock On stands...

I' m back into hunting fronm tree stands again this year (went from hunting cedar brush country to piney woods of East Texas) and was wondering what you guys would recommend for the most comfortable lock on style stand. I have a couple of the $50.00 stands but I can' t sit in them much longer than 2 hours, then I get fidgety. I don' t mind paying more money if the comfort factor is there.

Try the API Magnum, nice big stand with a high seat, " very crucial to being comfortable" . also has a nice padded seat. Cabelas has them for $79 and includes a bow holder, safety belt, and hunting video. This is my favorite lockon stand.

I have one of those but it cuts into the back of my legs after a while. I' m looking for something with more of a sling type seat like the Summit Viper climbing stand for example. I also have a Summit climber that I like but it is pretty old and there are much better designs out there today. Besides, I' ve become fond of the lock on style stands.

I know what you mean about them stands cutting into the back of your legs. I modified all my loc on stands with a wooden seat. I just carry a seat cushion in and out of the woods with me.

Hey Mike,

Unless you are in a hurry, wait a little while. Summit has a new line coming out that looks great. I use Lock-ons most of the time. Currently using Gorilla Kong' s which are not very expensvie and sit great. For the most comfortable, I have an API Baby Grand which was about $130. Although the Gorilla King Kong is basically the same stand as that, except heavier and less money.

Check this out for the new Summit. They look great and Summit says they will not cost a fortune.

API is out of business, they went bankrupt!! Had to recall many treestands for shoddy welds!! Stick with Summit or Sceaming Eagle.
