RE: BOW SET UP FOR TURKEY HUNTING HELP
First off, I' d recommend a bow with high let-off, even
if you' re going to be doing most of your hunting from a blind you' ll be glad you have it. Turn your bow poundage down. I turn my bow down to 53-54 lbs. where I can comfortably hold at fulldraw for 30-60 seconds, I normally pull 65-67 lbs with my whitetail setup/Q2. Shooting a bow w/80 % letoff and turning the poundage down allow me to draw very slowly & smoothly and also allows me to stay at full draw without much effort. Two things you don' t want when bowhunting turkeys is straining to get your bow drawn and/or shaking while at full draw. I' m not familar with your bow, so I can' t help much there. I bought a second bow that I use for turkeys only - Mathews FX w/80 % letoff. I use Gold Tip arrows w/a large cut mechanical, usually Spitfires although this year I think I' m going to try Rocket' s Sledgehammer w/a 3 1/2" cut[:o]. I do some hunting without a blind, so I wrap my bow with camo tape to take away any glare there is. Hope some of this helps:) Best of luck...something we all can use when chasing turkeys with a bow!:D TB |
RE: BOW SET UP FOR TURKEY HUNTING HELP
I would use what you got & get some big cutting diameter broadheads.

RE: BOW SET UP FOR TURKEY HUNTING HELP
I' m in the same boat as Mossburg. I plan on trying to hit something smaller than a Whitetail this spring. What kind of broadheads do you use?

RE: BOW SET UP FOR TURKEY HUNTING HELP
I use my normal deer setup but drop draw weight from 65 to 55 to be able to hold longer if necessary which is usually the case and try to stay as fast as I can by lightening head and fletching, much like a 3d setup. Heads are really a matter of personal choice. Bigger concern s/b accuracy and knowing when to draw and shot placement!!! Just my 2 cents

RE: BOW SET UP FOR TURKEY HUNTING HELP
I use the same exact setup for turkey or deer.
