Cell phone call kills the season...I'm a mess
 

Well...after a text message frenzy last night I may have killed my blood brothers chances on a Turkey...

When I jumped in the dodge this morning I accidently hit the send button on the blackberry....as a result the phone raged heavily in Magicmans blind as he was in pursuit of a gobbler...I'm not sure of all the details but the end result might not be a good one.....the only positive thing I can pull from this is maybe a hunting story on the new website....

If I lose Magic it won't be good..becuz I'm left with only Shultzy....

And Larry, Mo & Curly can't perform unless they're together as ONE.

My old lady was calling me on the cell phone, which was vibrating on top of my woodhaven call topper, when I shot my turkey last Thursday.

My outcome was a success, but thats generally why I leave the cell phone in my truck... if I didn't need to hear from her about some plans we had later that evening I'd of left it.

It ain't always bad I guess.....

Mine was on virbrate, but when you set it on top of a call topper, and have that on top of a gore-tex rain coat it may as well be a snare drum.

I have noticed that when my cell is on vibrate, and the woods are real quiet, it makes enough noise that I believe if a deer were close enough that it would/could be heard. It gets left in the truck now. I won't take that kind of chance when I'm trying to kill a buck. I take my chit seriously.I'm notTHAT far from humanity!:D

That is unless you are laying in the woods hurt needing help.

I have 1 friend and know another person that are paralized as a result of hunting accients.One spent 24 hours laying on the ground unable to move untill help arrived.(extenuating circumstances with work schedules caused the extreme delay)No one knew he wasn't back untill then.

Put it in a pocket,the deer won't hear it.;)

Here's the story.
I'm in my ground blind and I forgot to put my phone on vib. At 5:22 my phone starts singing " I want it all and I want it now" The queen song. I am frantically trying to dig the damn thing out of my pocket to shut it off. I answer it and noone is there. As I listen I can here someone in the background. So I sit there and listen! For a quite a while! I notice that its Brian that called. Apperently he didn't realize that he called me. I'm not going to tell on him but he does some strange things early in the morning!
Oh ya, I dont think the turkeys liked my ring tone. Non sighted[&o]

On my phone if I put it on silent and get a call or text, it will beep when I have a message.

I have my phone on vibrate in my pocket so when I feel it go off I just push the side button and it stops vibrating.

Vibrating is the only setting on phone that is completly silent.

I've put it in my pocket in the past, but even on vibrate, it makes enough noise.I'll give the no noise setting a try, I totally forgot about this option. DUHHHHH!!!:D:D:D:D:D

i keep mine in my pant EMPTY pant pocket, and you have to have it in an empty pocket because a pocket full of shells and a phone on vibrate dont mix well[:'(]

I agree with dubbya. It was my fault. I never take my phone deer hunting. I have been taking it turkey hunting because I'm hunting at my dads and I call him with live updates. He watches me with his binos from behind the barn. It's a relaxing hunt and I'm just out to have fun. I set it to vib everytime but this one. I even set my camera not to make any sound.

I always have a phone on me, either turned off or on vibrate. I lost two of the things in the turkey woods and once had my daughter tryin to call me while I was watching 2 deer come down a trail towards my stand. I ignored it and the deer didn't notice it. I ended up spine shooting one of them (I know, bad shot). It fell behind a stone wall. I went to check the msg my daughter left before my climb down, and while looking at the phone, I catch movement. The doe I shot stood up and ran maybe 5 min after the shot! Lesson learned, when a spine shot deer goes down, finish it off! I took the deer for dead. Anyway, I did track it and found it bedded down on the edge of a corn field in the dark. I backed out, went back the next morning (Without a bow, no sunday hunting in CT). I figured she would be piled up or coyote bait, but when I got there, she was standing up and feeding! She took off, I ran into her later that morning about a quarter mile away. There was not a drop of blood in her bed either! I'm sure she made it, what a tough animal!

Too much communication can be a bad thing. It is easy to forget to turn it to vibrate. I usually like to turn it off, this way I don't feel compelled to answer it. I already threw out the Blackberry and the pager when I quit my last job. Hopefully someday I will loose the cell phone too.

Even on vibrate that would be unnerving.

Last fall I was taping my cousins hunt, had a nice 11 pointer come in, he drew back on it and as soon as he got to full draw, ring ring ring..boom the buck was gone:(. That would have been the biggest buck taken off the farm point wise since back in 2004

No Joke, I've been using a clucking hen for my wifes ringtone for about a year now. And yes she hates it. I use a flock of canadian geese for my teenage daughters ringtone, I tell her that it sounds like her when she gets to talking on the phone. Would this be considered an electronic calling device if it went off in the blind?
