Bowtech Colors - Firestorm Grey and Shadow Grass???
 

I am consdering purchasing a newer Bowtech with either the Firestorm Grey and Shadow Grass finish. Are these finishes appropriate for a hunting bow? They are obviously not as stealthy as the invelvet finish, but are they acceptable for a hunting bow? Do they have too much gloss?? It is difficult to tell from Bowtech's website.

Well...I think the shadowgrass you are thinking of is actually the Advantage Mx-4, which is really sweet!!!! The Firestorm is a little glossy for my tastes, but I think you could get by with it though. The Max-4 is one of my favorites, there is a Commander at the shop I go to and I may just have to add it to my stable. The Mossy Oak Brush is awesome too, plenty of choices!

That top color you posted is not "Shadow Grass" it's called "Cottonwood" and is a gloss target finish that is supposed to resemble a wood grain finish.

I have a Firestorm Gray bow myself and both it and the Cottonwood have a gloss clearcoat which I would imagine if hit at the right angle by sunlight would shine like heck.

If you are interested in something that resembles "Shadow Grass" thengo with Advantage "Max4" that is a waterfowl sort of pattern with marsh grass and a good deal of contrast.
It's actually probably my favorite of the camo finishes.

The cottonwood does look sweet, but again, it is glossy like Matt said. Max-4 is way to go if you like the grass.

I really like firestorm. You might want to look at Testarossa all black with red cams I don't know if it has a gloss finish to it.

i have the general in max4 and it is sick looking. everyone comments about it when they see it.

The cottonwood would make a great huntingcolor if it weren't glossybut due to the glossI wouldn't use it. It shines like a high gloss rifle stock. While that may not be too important when hunting with a rifle I wouldn't have a glossy bow due to the distances you are trying to get to the deer.

I love the cottonwood color andtalked to Bowtech about getting the cottonwood with out the gloss onmy General for hunting.They said it could be done butthat it looked like card boardif they don't applythe gloss finish. :(Oh well.

I like MAX4 and Shadow Grass myself out of the camo options but keep in mind that if you go with either of these two colors you will want to get all black accessories because you will not be able to find them in those two camo patterns unless you had them dipped yourself. Except for the octane line.
