Wildlife in the backyard (pics)
I've been watching this fox and her 4 pups the last couple weeks in my backyard. They have walked within 10 yards of me without being the least bit nervous. The pups have grown up quick in the last 10 days and like to play around my block target, 20 yards from the back deck. This morning they were throwing around a dead possum. I've taken a few pictures, but my camera is pretty crappy. Im gona set-up my trail camera later this week and try to get some good close-ups.

What did mom do when you walked up to her pups. I had one barking up a storm from about 30 yards out when I walked up toher den with pups.

She's not too concerned. I was actually in the yard shooting yesterday and had 2 of the pups run between me and the target when I was retrieving my arrows.

That is crazy!! Fox are usually very cautious and nervous around humans.

They do have a beautiful coat this time of year.

The only bad thing about it is they have been scaring all the deer off. Before the foxes came in we would see several deer bedded up on the edge of our yard and the woods.

We have foxes in our yard too they come in for a feed. Though the fox in your pic does look really underweight.

Is it fox season? From 2000-2008 there were 3241 total laboratory confirmed cases. Raccoons - 2225, Fox - 287 The numbers show a general increase each year. I have foxes in the woods/marsh behind my house and find their scat around my chicken coop and yard. I kill them when I get the chance. Our fox season (my county) is 6 days a week, 24 hrs a day, all year. |
