man, is it getting out of hand??

I was looking through the latest issue of Bowhunter mag, and all the stuff that is coming out for bowhunting this fall is overwhelming. Everything has some sort of gadet/gimmick to make it better than ever before. Is it really? Or just a money maker? Range Fiders, nocks, fletching, camo, I even saw a freakin cam-stabilizer??? For real?? man, Im out of touch here.

Man! I know what you mean. I get Bowhunter man and Petersons and Deer and Deer Hunting and their all the same. My beloved articles are replaced with full-page advertisements. It's like every issue is the '08 buyer's guide. I'm getting sick of it.

The thing that I noticed recently in my Keystone Country Store catalog that AMAZED me (by amazed, I mean amazed anyone would buy it) was the wireless trail cams. Now, I knew they existed before, but I never really truly looked into them much. This particular model was almost $700 for the camera, and $14.95/month for the wireless service hosting! All that so you don't have to physically enter the woods and check the cams. Sorry, but I'll use scent control and risk bumping a few deer before I drop almost $900 into a scouting system in one year.

There must be a market for it, however. I'm a tech kind of guy...but I have my limits.

Oh and Landon...there was a picture in there of a guy from PA with a Giraffe he took with his bow:D

It is all a big a money maker, the magazines make money for the advertising - even if they don't believe in the product money talks - I would not use 95% of the BS out there personally

Its like how much more stuff can you do to a bow to make it better. You can only do so much to make your bow quieter, faster,ect... I think we should get back to the basics.

It's funny you mention the cam-stabilizer, I got a patent on one eight years ago but no one wanted it and I didn't have the money to make it happen:(. Now there on the market with a little differentdesign[:@].

Each of us have to decide what makes the experience rewarding, if you need more gagets, fine, if not, enjoy the outdoors...

Everything is out of hand because society has demanded it. Whether its bows, guns, cars, toys, video games, electronics, PDA's, computers, model airplanes and on and on.
Human nature.

I tell you what. I looked through that thing and all the adds on top of the blanket endorsement of everything under the sun. Well it was just too much. I'm up for renewal and said, I don't need this garbage. No more magazines for me except NRA.

Guys check out a magazine called Sports Afield. It is mostly gun hunting but the articles and pictures are great. Not a cheap mag and it doesn't publish every month.

A lot of big game farms use these for management purposes. Of course if you have cash to burn you can get one too! I don't own a game camera.
