I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
Guys...I swear by Hoyt and lovemy bow better than any bow...And I had issues with my Matthews 32 I had back in 2001...
However..I can't find a screemer Hoyt with a high brace and shortness that I prefer... Tell me everything about the DXT...I need all the ins and outs...I may jump back to Matthews...this is a big deal for me because I strongly feel the quality of Hoyt bows is untouchable... Hit me with feedback... Bw |

RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
Dude, if you are serious there are two bows that you have to shoot before you spend the dough. One, the Black Ice by Diamond, it is one of the smoothest bows you will find and you will still get your speed out of it. And to prove that I am impartial, check ou the Mission (Matthews) Journey. It is basically a Switchback XT and it will get you your speed, both are better priced than alot of the others out there....so that maybe you can keep whatever hoyt you go and have options.

RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
I would reco the ally as well...but you said that you wanted to be down near 30 inch ATA....I am telling ya that black ice is sweet....if you really want to get the full Bowtech makeover shoot the General too.:D
|
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
oh great
here we go with bowtechs;) |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
The black ice.... I'll back that one too, thats a sweet little bow. We'll make him a bowtech shooter yet Ben.:D
|
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
I was shooting 287fps out of my Trykon with a 28.5" draw at 65lbs, with a fairly heavy arrow (somewhere in the 427grs I believe). ;)
I haven't chronoed my Katera XL, but thats too long for you. :D |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
look at the tribute, short ATA and it can move
|
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
MW74,
I am currently shooting the Black Ice. I am not sure of all the stats and dimensions but I loveshooting it. It really shoots flat compared to my previous bow. I am very happy with it. chris |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
MW ... make sure you shoot the DXT ..... smoother than ALL those bows they mentioned .. not as fast tho .......
Remember, you are on a Bowtech site ;) |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
To answer your question:
Speed: 27" / 69# with 345 grain arrow - 290 fps Shock-free: Better than most, not like the general though Draw: Silky smooth Noise: Pretty quiet Weight: Super light and easy to maneuver with 29 3/4" a-a Shootability: If you use good form, it'll drive tacks at 60+ yds. Takes on average 2 weeks to getused to it Other: Some serving separationis common with stock strings with the sharp angled cam, most (including me) have bought aftermarket strings and the problem goes away. Also, some (including me) changed to an aftermarket grip like Torqueless but that's personalpreference. I shot alot of bows and my order was 1. DXT 2. General 3. Katera If the General's draw cycle was smoother I'd bought it in a heart beat, in fact, I'll probably go back and buy itanyway justtoadd it to the arsenal |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
I started my quest for a new bow recently and had all intentions to join the Bowtech Mafia!!
I have shot almost everything in the Hoyt, Matthews, PSE, Diamond and Bowtech lines. I have shot a lot of great bows compared to my old hunk of junk spittin out at 258fps. Needless to say I haven't purchased it yet but I will be buying a Katera, the bow the shop FORCED me to shoot. Here are the bows IMO that shot the best. 1. Katera 2. General 3. Guardian 4. DXT 5. Vectrix 6. Allegiance 7. Black Ice 8. Marquis 9. Drenalin For the record I have never liked Hoyt and never owned one, I have never shot a bow with such a low brace height that I liked either. What I found was all the above bows shot great and all had their high points. I found the Katera fast, foregiving and accurate even though it looks like an antique compared to some of the Bowtech's, PSE's and Matthews. This is my opinion, if I have a Bowtech sticker on my truck after I leave the Gym this morning I understand as I have regretfully declined my membership in the Bowtech Mafia;) |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
I appreciate all of your information and time you spent posting...
My Matthews 32 had serving issues that drove me nuts and I do not shoot alot...I heard a comment that the DXT had that as well....I keep hearing Katera and the low brace is not that bad if you shoot one... I will not rule out the Bowtech & Matthews..I will shoot them all....but when I goto the range I will have my sights on the Katera because of the experience I have had with my 03 Havoctec....I'm thinking if I beat the culture change of the low brace...the Katera may suck me in....it does not have the design and cuts the competitiors have but I think the Katera may be the one for me....We'll see after I fling some carbon....thanks again guys... |
RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
I prefer the Drenalin to the DXT, shorter always has seemed to be a marketing thing to me, I know I think the DXT gains a few fps....over the Dren, as if that matters? the longer more forgiving Dren has my vote. But you can't go wrong with either.

RE: I need the FULL scoop on the DXT
Comes with the best limbs money can buy... And top-end strings... I think I can get you the contact info to get one cheap, if their shooter program is still up and running.
I bought an Iron Mace last year - totally badass bow... Brand new for $530 + tax. Link to their admittedly crappy website. http://highcountryarchery.com/index.htm |
