2008 dream season...
Alright, since we have called our next kill, and everyone seemed to do it realistically, let's have some fun and state what our dream for 2008 is given what hunts we are going on.
My absolute dream would be for my father to arrow 2 P&Y bull elk, one in CO and one in MT, me to shoot a bull elk on either one of those trips and a nice mule deer, then come home and drop a 140"+ whitetail on my farm (will be the first deer taken off it), and a P&Y from Indiana. |
RE: 2008 dream season...
A "top end whitetail" here in Ohio and a solid 140 inch whitetail from PA.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
I would like to arrow a P&Y buck, have my buddy do the same, and have my brother kill at least one deer with his bow this yr. he will be coming back to bowhunting if we can get him a bow after about 13 yrs.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
Honestly, I would like to take about 4 does with my bow, between KY and MS, and a couple of bucks that are bigger than my current bucks on the wall. I'd be happy with 1 decent buck.

RE: 2008 dream season...
Since I called my "next kill", adoe first, then a good buck (for my area) in Pa,my dream season would be complete with a REALLY GOOD Edmonton Bow Zone whitetail buck in '08!!;)
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
There are so many things I would like to do if I could dream. I would start the season with a big bull elk. Then head north and kill a couple caribou. after that I would like to kill a old gnarly non typical whitetail. Then take a taxidermy course so I could afford to have all those animals mounted:D
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
For myself. A 140 class buck.
For my son. His first bow killed deer. I have 2 buddies that I would dearly LOVE to see kill their first bucks with archery gear this year. |
RE: 2008 dream season...
my dream at this point is just to take a few does, be able to spend quality time in the woods and if I am fortunate take one good buck, gas prices will have an impact to a point - which is kinda depressing - but at the same time I plan on spending between 30-40 days in the woods this year
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
We had a triple drop tine buck roaming around the area I would love to shoot that.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
my dream would be to see my dad kill the biggest buck of his life, with a bow. hes just getting back into bow hunting, after he gave it up because of a ton of misses, and not enough time to hunt. hes helped and gotten me, and my brother into the outdoors, and always put our season before his

RE: 2008 dream season...
Dreaming about the season….being a little slow at work thru this winter, I’ve got things so detailed & envisioned it’s scary.
Well first off, my initial dream didn’t pan out when I missed a nice longbeard with my longbow a few weeks back. However, if I were to pop a couple birds with the 870 before time expires I’ll be happy. If I may, I’ll toss in some fishing dreams to have decent success fly fishing for trout, and landing a few 20” smallmouths would certainly make my summer. On to the fall…..and arrowing a herd bull in Idaho in September with my longbow. Preferably early in the trip so I can enjoy as many other activities as I can. Whether it’s fishing, hunting other critters, or jumping behind the camera to film an Idaho slammer whitetail fall to one of HNI’s resident big buck killer’s arrow. :D Retuning east to fill 5 doe tags with my bow, a 150” PA buck & heck lets make it another 150” buck from Ohio. Kill all my PA deer with my longbow, and the Ohio buck with my Ally. Then lastly fill one remaining doe tag with my 44 mag during our gun season. While I am at it, drill a fall bird with my bow during the overlapped season. At any time during any days afield a chance to take out a coyote is always welcomed. Then finally to have my Dad commit enough effort for one season so that I can set him up with a chance at a nice 100”+ buck with his bow. Realistically I will probably not get anywhere close to this scenerio. Getting a bull elk regardless of size would make my season 10x over. So we'll just hope for that. AndmyDad will get excited about the upcoming season but probably only hunt 2-3 times as long as the weather isn’t too hot, too cold, too windy, has rain of any level, too sunny, too cloudy or he’s in the mood to go fishing instead. ;) |
RE: 2008 dream season...
To kill another 200 inch buck, but realistically shoota whitetailover 160" or a mule deer over 180 in kansas this season (If i get drawn..)
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
I guess if I thought about it, I'd like to do the PA slam. I've already got the longbeard, so if I can get a big buck to cooperate and get a bear I'll be good to go. I just found out we may have an opportunity to do some early season bear hunting in Maine, so I'm pretty fired up about that. It may cut into my plans to hunt OH, but we'll see. It's shaping up to be a fun year so far.

RE: 2008 dream season...
First off would be to tag the droptine buck spotted on our property last season, second would be one of the two 180's that were spotted together not far away on another piece I hunted last year.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
Well I would like to shoot the white deer we saw shed hunting! And I would like to shoot a buck bigger than any to date! Which is like a 100" 8point. I almost forgot I would like to get a few HNI'ers to my locations and get them some success. I look to hunt deer this year with(Rob/ PaBoywer, Bowtechben, and Matt/pa)

RE: 2008 dream season...
Dream season would be to get out of work and live in a tree for 2-3 weeks, end of October beginning of November
Don't care if I shoot a deer,be niceto see one or two........but to be out in the woods that time of the year.......hoo-boy, makes my heart race sitting here right now, the smells, the sounds, the feeling of being out there..... If that isnt possible, I really want to get out filming this summer with the oldest boy and see if he will sit in a groundblind for a couple hours quietly.....he is 2 1/2, that would be pretty cool for the season also...... |
RE: 2008 dream season...
I would like a 3.5 year old with my bow. It sounds funny, but if given the choice, I would much rather have anyone of 3 or 4 other guys that I have got into archery in the last two years shoot a deer with their bow. I really think that you have not lived until you have experienced this as a hunter. I know I am preaching to the choir here.[8D]

RE: 2008 dream season...
well we're dreaming right, I want to kill a 190ish deer in Illinois the last week of Oct. and a 150ish deer in Georgia on our lease in the middle of Nov. both with the bow of course.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
I would really luv to kill a 140 or bigger which would be really something here where I hunt.
|
RE: 2008 dream season...
My dream is both a P&Y and doe pronghorn on my SD trip. Come home to stick two does here locally as well as a P&Y deer here. I also hope to stick a fall gobbler this year.
Few other smaller goals: 500 fish this summer. Raccoon with bow called in on film. Spoonbill and Bighead this summer. (fish) HOPEFULLY, Stingrays in the gulf. Just sent an email over the legality of it where we go every summer. |
RE: 2008 dream season...
My first buck ever.....with a bow!
