Good call on having a "professional" try and take care of him.

There was a young (not that young) squirrel in our yard last year that was either very retarded (seriously) or very sick. He just didn't "move right" and wouldn't climb a tree. We tried to scare it up a tree several times...he would just hug the bark and jump like an uncoordinated coonhound. We tried to take care of him. But he only lived about 4 days. Having a pet squirrel would've been neat.

Probably an overpopulation thing. We saw two squirrels that had no hair on their tails and another that was seriously messed up too. He would only run in left-hand circles (big left circle or small left circle depending on where he wanted to go) on campus about a mile away that year.

my buddy raised one a few years ago, ok pet until it gets big, that thing would jump every where. you could walk through a room and out of no where it would come flying at your face trying to land. it also got sorta mean, they turned it loose after that. seemed to do fine on it's own

X2. It's that time of year. I had to shoo a flightless baby bird out from under my tire this morning into the bushes of my yard. All under the watchful eye of mama. Hope the neighbor's cat doesn't get it.[]

Wow, I guess I wouldn't have thought to call someone that rehabs animals for a baby squirrel. I'd have let the coyotes have a tasty treat, they have to eat too.
